Machinist

Skilled Machinist Hourly Rate: £24.83 PAYE Location: Derby Job Type: Contract (12 months, 37 hours per week) Working Hours: 3 Shifts (Monday to Friday: 6am-2pm, 2pm-9pm, 9pm-6am) We are seeking a skilled General Machinist to join our team. In this role, you will operate various CNC machining platforms, producing high-quality components such as Discs and Drums. This position requires a commitment to delivering weekly targets to meet customer requirements and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement in our manufacturing environment. Day-to-day of the role: Operate CNC machines and program manuals, ensuring consistent, high-quality machining across different components and product families. Utilise a variety of inspection equipment, including machine probing, micrometres, and plug gauges. Interpret manufacturing and customer drawings as well as written specifications. Assess the quality of components produced to ensure they meet the required standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and sustain improvement activities within the manufacturing environment. Required Skills & Qualifications: Completion of an advanced modern engineering apprenticeship and an NVQ/SVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent qualification. Experience with Siemens control systems is preferred. Proficiency in 3 and 5-axis grinding, milling, and turning. Previous experience with aerospace components is advantageous. Clear and demonstrated understanding of drawing interpretation, calibration, dimensional and visual inspection. Benefits: Competitive hourly rate.
