Senior Practitioner – Adolescent Social Work TeamLocation: South-East EnglandContract Type: TemporarySalary: CompetitiveAbout the Role:Myn is recruiting a Senior Practitioner for our long-term client in the South-East of England. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced and dedicated social worker to take on a leadership role within an Adolescent Social Work Team. You’ll provide expert guidance and supervision to less experienced colleagues, manage complex cases, and work collaboratively to deliver life-changing outcomes for adolescents and their families.Key Responsibilities:- Carry out statutory duties under the Children Act 1989, focusing on children in need of support and protection.- Supervise, guide, and challenge less experienced social workers to uphold excellent standards of practice.- Undertake assessments, develop care plans, and monitor outcomes for complex cases, ensuring interventions are effective and evidence-based.- Rapidly respond to and support young people aged 16–17 who present as homeless, preventing and addressing homelessness through early intervention.- Chair Child in Need meetings, multi-agency risk discussions, and joint housing assessments.- Support Looked After Children by attending reviews, completing care and pathway plans, and ensuring effective outcomes.- Mentor and coach team members to promote reflective practice and holistic family approaches.- Work closely with partner agencies, including health, education, housing, and police, to reduce risks and enhance outcomes for young people.- Keep up-to-date with legislative changes, policies, and evidence-based interventions to embed learning across the team.- Act as a practice leader by shaping and developing service initiatives and participating in working groups and training programmes.Essential Qualifications and Experience:- Degree in Social Work or equivalent (DIPSW, CQSW, CSS).- Registration with Social Work England (SWE).- Proven post-qualification experience in statutory social work settings, particularly with adolescents.- Experience in managing adolescent risks through contextual safeguarding approaches.- Demonstrated ability to mentor, supervise, and support newly qualified social workers or other team members.- Strong understanding of legislation related to young homeless individuals, children in need, and Looked After Children.Skills and Attributes:- Ability to build effective professional relationships with children, families, and partner agencies.- Expertise in assessing needs, making sound professional judgments, and managing risk in high-pressure situations.- Skilled in developing and implementing evidence-based care plans with measurable outcomes.- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality reports and represent the service professionally.- In-depth knowledge of child development, trauma, attachment, and resilience theories.- Commitment to promoting equal opportunities and valuing diversity in all aspects of work.What We’re Looking For:We need a compassionate, committed, and professional leader who thrives in a collaborative and high-performance environment.
