Job Objective The EHS Manager primary objective is to develop, implement, and sustain the Solbiate Site’s strategic and tactical plan for all EHS, Process Safety, and Security matters, as well as develop and manage and integrate the EHS management systems (Seveso, ISO 14001, ISO 45001). With the partnership of all Solbiate’s functions, the primary deliverable of this position is to create a culture of engagement, empowerment, and compliance through direction and oversight of all programs that support the site’s primary goal of an incident-free workplace. The position provides leadership and technical expertise to meet Bakelite Corporate and site expectations in environmental, health, safety, process safety, and security management systems. It also provides the EHS leadership to the site to ensure compliance with policies and applicable regulations as an active member of the Management Team. Covers the role of RSPP as per Legislative Decree No. 81/2008 and Duty Manager for emergency plan. Essential Functions Establish & continually refine plant’s long term EHS strategy & improvement plan. Establish EHS performance & cultural metrics to gauge current state and provide basis for continuous improvement measurement. Manage site EHS budget and associated spending. Participate in developing the EHS site’s capital expense spending budget & site plan, evaluating all the mitigation risk. Review all EHS projects for risk, cost & prioritization within overall plan and budget. Provide leadership and facilitation of incident investigations. Ensure robust process is in place to fully determine root cause and corrective actions as necessary. Train others at the plant in the use of causal analysis tools and methods. Ensure EHS matters are fully addressed in plant PHA. Provide oversight and management of site EHS, and Process Safety related action items studies and participate in review of all PHA studies. Ensure the fire protection system and emergency systems are well maintained and managed. With the collaboration of site’s functions, ensure security standards are met and applied. Track & publish standardized EHS performance & cultural metrics on a routine basis consistent with company requirements & align EHS performance indicators with overall Corporate key performance indicators. Identify and implement initiatives to drive continuous improvement. Conduct periodic audits of plant EHS programs including contractor activities. Regulatory Compliance Develop and manage a system to ensure that all site’s permits and authorizations are maintained. Coordinate all safety, environmental and prevention activities to ensure compliance with current legislation and risk assessment related to the site. Coordinate the implementation of all requirements as per Seveso process and safety management (PSM) standards & regulations. Drive and participate in the management of change (MOC) to ensure the identification of all EHS, security, and process safety requirements. Be the internal reference point for the site for all governmental regulatory contacts & inquiries. With the collaboration with site functions, manage the site’s waste program. Interact with DGSA to ensure the annual reporting and that the related activities of ADR regulation are met. Collaborate in the management of the Solbiate remediation activities. Define & manage plant emergency preparedness activities. Interact and collaborate with external authorities responsible for controls of activities related to safety, hygiene, process safety, and environmental. In collaboration with all departments, define and manage EHS training needs for all site associates & contractors. Knowledge, Education, Skills & Qualifications 10 years' experience as EHS professional in a multinational chemical company (Seveso plants are preferred). Degree in Chemistry or engineering. RSPP qualification. Deep knowledge and understanding of EHS Italian regulation (e.g. Legislative Decree No. 105/2015; Legislative Decree 81/2008; Legislative Decree 152/2006). Safety Mindset, communication and leadership skills. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks. Excellent verbal and written Italian are required. Good verbal and written English are required.
