Job Description
SPX Enterprise Control Systems (ECS) is a leader in designing and producing advanced programmable jammers (RF Inhibitors) and specialised equipment for high-level military and internal security applications. We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Senior Assembly Technician to join our team on a permanent basis.
As a Senior Assembly Technician, you will play a crucial role in assembling ECS products, ensuring they meet the highest quality standards and adhere to the production process. You will be instrumental in transforming innovative designs into fully functional products, working closely with various departments to achieve seamless transitions from prototype to production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble ECS products and cable assemblies following detailed Assembly Instructions (AI’s), sketches, or verbal guidance.
- Perform precise PCB assembly by hand, using soldering irons and SMT components.
- Adhere strictly to the production process, ensuring all units meet the standards set by QA inspectors.
- Conduct assembly operations using a microscope or other magnifying devices when required.
- Take full responsibility for the assembly and inspection of products up to the test stage of manufacture.
- Consistently follow the company’s ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) procedures.
- Work to IPC-A-610 & IPC-WHMA-A-620 standards.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth transitions from product prototype to testing.
- Identify and report any issues during manufacturing, such as the use of inappropriate components, directly to the line manager/supervisor and design authority. No changes are to be made without approval.
- Suggest and implement improvements to assembly processes, enhancing product and system efficiency.
- Support the transition of new designs from Engineering to production, assisting in prototype construction when necessary.
- Provide assistance with other stages of manufacture to help meet urgent deadlines.
- Ensure all products and modules are built according to documentation, complying with DAOS procedures.
- Adhere to all relevant Health and Safety regulations.
- Actively participate in and support the continuous improvement process across the organisation, in line with the Enterprise Control Systems Quality Management System.
- Accurately follow route card processes in Syspro, maintaining all relevant log books.
- Manufacture products to ISO9001 standards as outlined in the Quality Management System.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Extensive experience in assembly and soldering, particularly with SMT components.
- Proficiency in working to IPC-A-610 & IPC-WHMA-A-620 standards.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and address issues in the assembly process.
- A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
