Postdoc on Robot learning and control - (2200007T) Commitment & contract: 2 years fixed term contract with renewal option Location: IIT - Center for Robotics and Intelligent Systems, Via S. Quirico, 19d, 16163 Genova GE. YOUR TEAM You will be working within the Humanoid & Human Centred Mechatronics Research Line, a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group with strong expertise in robot design, modelling and control of new mechatronics components. The Humanoid & Human Centred Mechatronics Research Line is coordinated by Nikos Tsagarakis, who has extensive experience in Robotics and Mechatronics and Control. The research concentrates on robot design exploring state of art design approaches (structural, actuation and transmission systems) combined with advancements in control including whole body loco-manipulation generation, balancing regulation, physical interaction and teleoperation control. The selected candidate will be in charge of the development of new algorithms for achieving autonomous loco-manipulation capabilities for an new legged mobile manipulation platform under development as well as for a range of robotic platforms (CENTAURO, COMAN) using online/offline machine learning methods and assisting in the design and development of a cross-platform control framework that transparently bridges model-based and data-driven control methods ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS We are looking for highly motivated, outstanding scientist with a background and PhD in Robotics or Software Engineering and strong background and interest in data-driven, machine learning control techniques and their practical application to robot loco-manipulation control. The ideal candidate should also possess: Strong academic and solid engineering background with hands-on experience in designing and developing autonomous control systems. Excellent understanding and solid experience with Deep Learning and differential programming frameworks (e.g. TensorFlow, Pytorch), PCL, OpenCV, Cloud infrastructure, dataset collection and management, CUDA and parallel computing methods. Solid understanding and hands on experience with robot modeling, motion planning and control (kinematics and dynamics, path planning, dynamic simulation and control software components) Excellent knowledge and practical experience with designing, implementing and testing classical or machine learning based control methods on robotic systems. Outstanding SW development and programming skills in C++, Python, ROS tools and libraries.
