We are looking for a person for a variety of tasks in the higher service Computer scientist (f/m/d) primarily for Unit 422 "Innovative technologies, cyber security and numbering" at the Bonn or Mainz locations. Efficient infrastructures are the lifelines of a modern society and economy. They secure Germany's future. As an independent regulatory authority, the Federal Network Agency is responsible for sustainable competition, future-proof networks and strong consumer protection. We employ around 3,200 people in Bonn, Mainz and 44 other locations. What does Unit 422 do? We deal with innovative topics in telecommunications, in particular digitalization and artificial intelligence (AI), and also represent the Federal Network Agency in national and international standardization organizations. Digitalization The increasing digitalization of the world is based on technological developments, some of which open up completely new electronic communication channels and the associated exchange of the necessary data. We are involved in national and international standardization to create interfaces and data formats that make this possible in the first place. Artificial intelligence (AI) In addition, the activities of Department 4 "Technical Regulation, Standardization Issues Telecommunications" in the field of AI are bundled in our department. These range from cooperation in the development of corresponding standards and norms at national and international level to the concrete preparation and organization of market surveillance of AI. What are your tasks? You will support the development of new approaches to technical regulation, particularly in the field of AI You will develop new test procedures for market surveillance to assess AI systems and represent these approaches in standardization at national, European and international level You will analyze the mode of action of AI in specific use cases and, in particular, examine and evaluate the aspects of algorithm compliance from a technical perspective You develop guidelines and guidelines for the use of AI systems from a technical-regulatory perspective and with recourse to standardization You are the point of contact for companies, trade associations, civil society and political decision-makers, in particular with regard to the technical assessment of the risks that individual AI systems can pose You cooperate with other public institutions, business and civil society and ensure a smooth transfer of knowledge To fulfill these tasks, you also work regularly with ministries and authorities at federal and state level and with the EU Commission Who are we looking for? You have completed a Master's degree with 300 ECTS credits or a Diplom (university) degree in computer science, legal informatics, business informatics or a comparable field of study or will complete such a degree shortly You have in-depth knowledge in the field of artificial intelligence Ideally, you already have knowledge of EU law and experience with administrative procedures Ideally, you have experience in working with European or international organizations or bodies You have a good grasp of things, the ability to think abstractly and a high level of motivation You have a confident and engaging manner You are a committed, reliable and flexible personality who works independently and results-oriented even under time pressure in difficult situations You have good planning, assertiveness and organizational skills as well as good analytical and negotiating skills You are open-minded and cooperative in a team, have experience in interdisciplinary collaboration and have strong and proven people skills You have good written and verbal communication skills and very good English language skills You are willing to undertake business trips What do we offer?
