Mechanical Design Manager
Our MEP Building Services specialist client are known for delivering building services solutions to Commercial, Residential and Refurbishment sector. This position is based in Central London, with Site, Consultancy and Client visits, and reports to the Head of Design.
Our client is looking for someone driven to deliver quality work, who takes pride in what they do. With a willingness to take ownership and responsibility for your tasks you understand that building and maintaining relationships is key.
You will review new project designs to check feasibility, identify potential issues and liaise with the Clients Design Team, Design Consultancy and Project Managers to fully understand project specifications and requirements.

Technical Skills
* Minimum of HNC qualified with a minimum of 10 years post qualification experience.
* Mechanical technical expertise, any electrical knowledge is an advantage.
* Procurement and negotiating skills.
* Experience in managing preconstruction programs.
* Experience in managing commissioning programs.
* Proficient in the full Microsoft suite of programs including Project and/or ASTA.
Key Responsibilities
* Representing the company at meetings with the Clients’ design team. Work with Clients to acquire technical information, specifications, and drawings for site and CAD teams.
* Drawing Approval and Sign Off - Work with CAD team to finalise drawings, ensuring designs changes are picked up before issuing to Operations.
* Ensure drawings produced are inline with the contracted ERs and technically review them for compatibility with site conditions and interfacing services.
* Facilitate the Electrical design team to review / approve electrical designs and queries throughout your project.
* Produce and issue Major Plant Technical Submittals.
* Involvement in technical specification and negotiations of the procurement of Major Plant.
* Provide technical support to the Operation Teams including attending client/site meetings where required.
* Prepare and provide all necessary detailed design documentation to Operations Team for design handover and project implementations.
* Liaise with commercial manager on each project to ensure any change controls are documented and costed & instructed correctly.
* Weekly Design Report produced and circulated.
* Input into the pre-construction program and drawing tracker, issuing design reports as per the agreed project dates. To observe and abide by the Company’s policies and procedures.
* Monitoring and ensuring drawings and Major Plant tech subs are issued as per the pre-construction program.
* Supporting the CAD dept in chasing the sign off design and coordinated drawings.
* Supporting the operation department with any onsite technical issues, liaising with specialist sub-contractors carrying out CDP elements of the projects and inputting this information into the design process.
* Attending client workshops and DTMs and ensuring the information required is issue to meet the deadline set and project requirements.
* To always cultivate and maintain a professional image, be punctual, helpful, and courteous to clients, colleagues and other Contractor and Consultants.
* To ensure all equipment including Laptop, Mobile Phone provided to you are kept secure and in good order. Ensure equipment is up to date and calibrated.
