Job Description

Regional Business Change Manager

NHSE South East Regions include:

  • Hampshire and Isle of Wight
  • Kent and Medway
  • Surrey Heartlands
  • Sussex
  • Berkshire, Oxfordshire, and Buckinghamshire

Working Conditions:

  • In this role, you'll regularly visit ICB/Trusts within your region. When not on-site, you'll collaborate with the wider team in London (Waterloo) or work remotely from home.
  • Permanent position, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Band 8b salary range £62,215 to £72,293 pa, depending on your experience within the NHS

The Federated Data Platform:

NHS England’s Data and Analytics Directorate is driving the transformation to put patients in control of their data, support clinicians, decision-makers, and researchers with real-time, high-quality data, and empower the NHS Data Community to leverage their skills for high-value opportunities. We pride ourselves on our dedication, creativity, and values-driven approach to improving decision-making across health and care, helping people live healthier, longer lives.

The NHS relies on data every day to manage patient care and plan services, but it is often stored in systems that don’t communicate with each other, creating burdens for both patients and staff. The Federated Data Platform connects these systems, allowing each Trust and Integrated Care Board to manage their own customised version, enhancing data integration and care coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the successful adoption of the Federated Data Platform across NHS Trusts and Integrated Care Boards in your region. You will act as the key contact for Trust resources responsible for business change.
  • Ensure all Trusts and ICBs in your region are effectively using FDP and its products, embedding new operational ways of working and realising benefits. In your first year, you will focus on improving adoption at Trusts already using FDP, expanding to new organisations in year two.
  • Establish and manage a Change Network for Trusts within your region, sharing best practices and coordinating training, support, and communications.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, communicating programme details effectively across all levels and ensuring smooth delivery of business change initiatives.
  • Conduct change impact assessments, ensure staff are prepared for system adoption, and support Trusts in meeting key delivery milestones.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Significant experience leading business change within large, complex environments, particularly in the healthcare sector.
  • Expertise in implementing structured change management practices and driving strategic initiatives. You will have experience executing high-priority items to short deadlines.
  • Exceptional skills in stakeholder identification, engagement, and relationship building. Able to communicate complex issues clearly and gain buy-in at all levels.
  • Demonstrable experience in leading cross-functional teams and mentoring colleagues to ensure effective delivery of business change initiatives.
  • Familiarity with NHS processes and culture, preferably within the region, with a strong understanding of NHS organisational structures and digital transformation efforts.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Experience working on IT systems within NHS or healthcare settings, with knowledge of clinical safety requirements.
  • Recognised project management qualifications (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile) and experience using project management tools like MS Project to plan and track activities.
  • Knowledge of tools and techniques for supporting data-driven healthcare planning and operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Educated to Master’s level or with equivalent experience in Business Change or related fields.
  • Professional qualifications in project management (PRINCE2, Agile) or business change are highly desirable.

Why Join Us?

This is a unique opportunity to lead a significant transformation across NHS Trusts and ICBs, ensuring that critical technology and data tools are implemented to improve healthcare delivery. You’ll be working with cutting-edge data technology to drive real change in the NHS, improving outcomes for patients and operational efficiency across your region.

Benefits & Perks:

  • 27 days annual leave (increasing with service), plus bank holidays.
  • Access to professional development opportunities and NHS-wide training platforms.
  • Comprehensive mental wellness support and a strong commitment to work-life balance.
