Role Overview
As a commercially-minded Finance lead, you will go beyond traditional financial management to become a strategic partner in the business. This role is focused on enhancing operational and financial controls, identifying opportunities to generate revenue, and ensuring robust financial forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management. You will also work to optimise revenue generation opportunities within HMRC frameworks, ensuring compliance and maximising tax efficiencies.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and execute revenue-generating opportunities, aligning financial goals with business strategy.
Enhance and implement efficient financial controls and scalable processes.
Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management to ensure financial stability and growth.
Maximise HMRC incentives like R&D tax credits and other tax-efficient opportunities.
Partner with operations, procurement, and project managers to improve cost control and profitability.
Deliver accurate financial reports and maintain regulatory compliance.
Key Competencies and Skills
Strong ability to identify and act on opportunities to generate revenue and improve profitability.
Demonstrated experience in streamlining and improving financial and operational processes.
Ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
Capable of influencing cross-functional teams and leading initiatives.
Strong understanding of UK tax regulations, including HMRC frameworks and incentives.
Qualifications and Experience
ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification with qualified by experience also considered.
Proven experience in a finance leadership role, ideally within the construction or related industry.
Solid knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
Experience working with HMRC-related claims, such as R&D tax credits or capital allowances, is a strong advantage.
Proficiency with financial management software and advanced Excel skills.
