New Product Development Manager

Based Barnsley S74

Working hours: Monday – Friday 8.30am – 4.30am.

Salary guide (dependent upon experience): £30 - £35k

Purpose:

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative New Product Development Manager to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the entire lifecycle of new product development from concept and design through to testing, refinement, and launch. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, engineering, and manufacturing, to bring innovative products to market that meet both customer needs and company objectives.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of our product portfolio and contribute to the growth of sales in the business.

Key Responsibilities:

* Reporting directly to the Marketing Manager to establish product portfolio gaps, assist with design and carry out market research to bring new products to market.

* Hold monthly New Product Development meetings.

* Researching the competition where we see new business opportunities.

* Assisting with Costing and Profit Analysis on New Products.

* Completion of New Product Authorisation Forms (NPA) and Existing Product Authorisation Forms (EPA).

* To hold brainstorming sessions with the Marketing Manager and Engineering Team to generate new product concepts.

* Analyse customer feedback, market trends, and competitive landscape to inform product strategies.

* Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment with business goals and customer expectations.

* Create detailed product specifications whilst considering design principles and sustainability considerations.

* Work with engineering teams to ensure functionality, durability, and performance criteria are met.

* Liaise with external testing houses (FIRA, SATRA etc) to ensure testing is undertaken to the current required standards.

* Able work with cross-functional departments and the supply chain teams to ensure smooth transition from design to production.

* Assist in creating go-to-market strategies, including positioning, pricing, and launch plans.

* Manage multiple product development projects simultaneously, ensuring they stay on schedule and within budget.

* Ensure products meet regulatory standards, quality guidelines, and environmental sustainability requirements.

* Assist with Sales and Marketing activities in between projects.

Education:

Degree in Industrial design, product design, engineering, or a related field (is preferred but not essential).

Experience:

3+ years of experience in product design and development, preferably in furniture i.e. office, education, retail etc.

Proven track record of bringing new products from concept to market.

Experience in fabrication welding / manufacturing (is preferred but not essential).

Efficient understanding of reading drawings.

Knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and production techniques.

Project Management:

Strong project management skills with the ability to manage timelines, resources, and team collaboration.

Creativity & Innovation:

Strong creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.

A passion for staying on top of industry trends and emerging technologies.

Communication Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly to stakeholders.

Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and influence without authority
