We are seeking a highly experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, anxiety, and challenging behaviour. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of strategies to support these children effectively and be confident in their ability to adapt and implement tailored approaches in an educational setting.
Experience in schools or similar educational environments, as well as familiarity with the National Curriculum, is highly desirable. This role offers the chance to make a significant impact in the lives of children who require additional support to achieve their potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to children with a range of SEN needs, including ASC, ADHD, trauma, SEMH, and anxiety.
Develop and adapt strategies to support challenging behaviours, ensuring a calm and structured environment.
Use a variety of approaches to engage students in learning, both academically and socially.
Collaborate with teachers and SENCo to develop and implement personalised support plans aligned with the National Curriculum.
Monitor and document student progress, adapting interventions as needed to meet individual needs.
Build positive relationships with students, encouraging confidence and participation in school life.
Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment, helping children overcome barriers to learning.
Essential Experience/Attributes:
Extensive experience working with children with SEN, particularly ASC, ADHD, trauma, SEMH, anxiety, and challenging behaviours.
Strong understanding of behavioural management strategies and techniques.
Familiarity with the National Curriculum and ability to support students in accessing it effectively.
Demonstrated ability to work in schools or educational settings.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with teachers, SENCo, and support staff.
Ability to adapt approaches to suit individual needs, ensuring each child receives the support they require.
A DBS check registered on the update service or a willingness to obtain one.
Qualifications in SEN, child development, or related areas are desirable but not essential.
