TEAM

The Safety Team at Silverstone Circuit is dedicated to ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all visitors, staff, contractors, and participants across the venue. This includes race events, corporate events, and general site operations. The faced paced operation of the team is like no other Safety Team, supporting Silverstone’s reputation as a premier motorsport and events venue.


JOB PURPOSE

The Fire Compliance Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of fire safety and compliance across the site, including event and non-event days. This role ensures that all fire safety standards, policies, and regulations are met to protect the safety of guests, staff, contractors, and the facilities. The Fire Compliance Manager will work closely with other departments, local authorities, and emergency services to implement and uphold fire safety protocols, conduct risk assessments, and respond effectively to emergencies.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Fire Safety Compliance and Risk Management

  • Conduct regular fire risk assessments and ensure all areas comply with relevant fire safety laws, codes, and regulations. Including permanent and temporary infrastructure.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive fire safety policies and procedures in alignment with UK Fire Safety Order regulations.
  • Oversee fire safety standards during events, ensuring adherence to fire safety management plans and evacuation procedures supporting the Silverstone Circuits 365 24/7 calendar.
  • Identify and address fire safety risks, liaising with other departments to implement corrective actions.

Emergency Preparedness and Response

Create and manage fire evacuation and emergency response plans, ensuring they are communicated and accessible to all relevant personnel.

Conduct regular fire evacuation drills and training sessions for staff and event personnel, evaluating effectiveness and areas for improvement.

Serve as the lead point of contact for fire emergencies, coordinating with emergency services and supporting the incident response.


Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance

  • Coordinate with the Estates and Facilities Team for regular inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire safety equipment, including alarms, extinguishers, sprinklers, and emergency lighting.
  • Coordinate with the Estates and Facilities Team to document inspection results and ensure timely corrective actions for any identified issues.
  • Manage compliance records and logs related to fire safety equipment, testing, and certifications.


Stakeholder Communication and Collaboration

  • Collaborate with event organisers, vendors, and contractors where necessary to ensure adherence to fire safety requirements during setup, operations, and breakdown of events.
  • Act as the liaison with fire service authorities, local councils, and other regulatory bodies for inspections, audits, and compliance verification.
  • Provide expert advice and consultation on fire safety matters to management and other departments, including Estates and Facilities, Venue, Catering, Escapade, Karting Team, and Event Teams.

Staff Training and Development

  • Develop and deliver fire safety training programs for staff, contractors, and event teams to ensure site-wide fire safety awareness.
  • Stay updated with industry best practices and changes in fire safety legislation, incorporating these into training materials and practices.
  • Train designated fire marshals, ensuring they are equipped to manage evacuations and assist during fire emergencies.

Incident Investigation and Reporting

  • Lead investigations into fire incidents or near-misses, documenting findings and recommending improvements to prevent recurrence.
  • Prepare and submit detailed incident reports, highlighting trends, risks, and mitigation measures.
  • Maintain records of incidents, inspections, training, and all fire safety-related documentation.


TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES

Promote at all times the professional image of the company by ensuring high standards of both professionalism and personal presentation.

Participate in staff training as required.

Comply with company policies and health and safety requirements at all times, encouraging an awareness of health and safety requirements.

Any additional responsibilities as reasonably required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS


Qualifications:

Education: NEBOSH Fire Safety and Risk Management Certificate, Level 3 or higher qualification in Fire Safety/Engineering or related field.

Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a fire safety, compliance, or risk management role, ideally in a high-occupancy venue or large-scale events environment.

Certifications: Membership in a recognized fire safety or compliance organization (e.g., Institute of Fire Safety Managers, Fire Industry Association) is preferred.


Skills and Competencies:

Strong understanding of UK fire safety laws, codes, and standards, including the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and influence diverse teams.

Proven experience in fire risk assessment, emergency response planning, and incident investigation.

Detail-oriented, organised, and able to manage multiple priorities under pressure.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and fire safety management software.
