Description Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Product Manager in the Digital & Lumada Solutions LoB, capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment. The Product Manager will be working on solutions for People Flows monitoring, Decision Support in Operations Management and related Value-added services for public transport operators, authorities and passengers. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Naples or Genova, Italy. Accountabilities will include but are not limited to: Assess market demand and gather customer requirements to ensure customer satisfaction Analyse customer supplied system specifications, decomposing the statements within such specifications into product requirements Analyse technical specifications and prepare technical documentation for tenders and bids Design the functional architecture to fulfil the client demands Work on bids to understand and address customer needs, and to select opportunities with an evidence based approach Before and during tendering phase, interface with internal stakeholders (project managers, construction managers, project engineers, commissioning managers and application engineers) and external stakeholders (customers, contractors, local authorities, external assessor) to ensure consistent communication Gain a deep understanding of customer experience, identify and fill product gaps and generate new ideas that grow market share, improve customer experience and drive growth Create buy-in for the product vision both internally and with key external partners Prepare product description, convert business needs into technical specifications, and define and manage roadmap to align development with business goals Take evidence-based decisions to prioritize product features based on customer impact and to select market opportunities to address Develop and maintain close working relationships with internal and external contacts Work efficiently and effectively, in compliance with internal global policies and standardization requirements Required Skills / Knowledge: At least 3-5 years of proven work experience in product management or as an associate product manager, managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its lifecycle At least 3-5 years of experience as an engineer or technical lead Knowledge of requirements management process and related software tools (e.g. IBM DOORS). Knowledge of a typical vehicle and Operation Control Centre architecture. Design of typical transportation systems, especially in railway environment in order to comply with the requirements in terms of time, quality and cost either for an assigned Tender and Backlog Project. Define System, Architecture and functional/non-functional requirements for non-vital applications. Budget and product activities planning and management. Purchase technical specification and requirements writing. Knowledge of communication protocols/architectures for designing of wired and wireless data networks and computer architectures Knowledge of cybersecurity standards Knowledge of UI/UX design principles, stakeholder engagement, process analysis and product design methodologies Basic Knowledge of the concepts related to the protection of personnel, hardware, programs, networks, and data from physical circumstances and events that could cause serious losses or damage to a transportation system. This includes protection from fire, natural disasters, vandalism. Team player who collaborates well with others in cross functional teams, with excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to maintain a keen attention to detail, to prioritize, multitask and work well under pressure Natural tendency to be curious, positive and creative Sincere empathy for the customer and a commitment to delving deep into the challenges they present or experience Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in technologies and software development Ability to conduct research into issues and products as required. Education/Qualifications Master Degree in Computer Engineering or equivalent technical background with focus on digital competencies Languages Excellent Proficiency in English (written and spoken) Preferred Skills / Knowledge: Knowledge of standards and norms related the railway environment (HW and SW). Basic knowledge of bidding process. Basic knowledge and understanding of current IoT technology for application related the people flow and operations management. Basic knowledge and understanding of sensing technologies based on video analysis and laser for people counting application. Basic knowledge of Mobility as a Service concept and Smart Mobility services. Basic knowledge of software engineering. Experiences in Railways and Mass Transit market. Strong knowledge of People Flows and Transport Operations management market and technologies Demonstrable experience launching successful products Demonstrable leadership abilities Ability to meet revenue targets Expert at managing tight deadlines Thank you for your interest in Hitachi Rail.
