We are looking for a Cleanliness and Contamination Control Engineer This job description focuses on all engineering activities related to the impact of inorganic and organic compounds interacting with spacecraft elements, forming the core of the Cleanliness and Contamination Control discipline. Specific attention will be given to contamination on-orbit simulations and materials testing data advanced data treatment. The candidate will be required to provide technical support to projects involving both manned and unmanned scientific missions. Key Duties: Assessment of the impact of organic and inorganic substances on spacecraft elements in terms of performance losses and identification of sensitive items and areas; Definition of contamination control requirements and preparation of the related requirements specifications; Preparation of contamination assessments and in-orbit evaluations of outgassing from non-metallic materials; Execution of contamination of on-orbit simulations with dedicated S/W like COMOVA, SYSTEMA, MolFlow; Preparation of models for on-orbit simulations; Simplification of CAD Steps in FEMAP, Preparation of Mesh in FEMAP with highly elongated elements, Extraction of model in Neutral format (.neu) in FEMAP; Use of ESATAN for visualization of reduced geometric models (.erg), importation and extraction of temperatures/thermal maps from thermal cases (.TMD); Execution of data treatment and data fitting using Excel and Python routines of dynamic outgassing testing datasets; Ensuring materials and processes and sub-assemblies compatibility with mission requirements in terms of ground and space environmental effects as well as with storage and launcher requirements; Assessment of all impacts of contamination requirements to spacecraft design, manufacturing, assembly, testing, launch and mission phases and plan all activities to be foreseen to meet all mission needs related to the discipline; Interaction with all engineering disciplines, as well as with manufacturing, quality and assembly and integration departments to assure; Evaluation materials properties in terms of contamination emission on-ground and in-orbit and the related impact on the spacecraft design; Evaluation of Lunar or Martian dust impacts on space H/W performances and definition of design countermeasures; Support of the R&D activities pertaining the discipline. Technical Skills and Experience Required: Experience with cleanliness and contamination control aspects; Good level of knowledge in systems engineering; Knowledge in thermal engineering and optics; Knowledge in chemistry with particular focus on organic chemistry and materials science (at least non-metallic materials); Use of Excel, Matlab and Python for advanced data treatments; Good knowledge of CAD, FEMAP; Knowledge of ESATAN; Experience with S/C AIT activities; Good knowledge of the main quality processes; Good level in documents preparation; Support to meetings and reviews with customers and providers; Experience with ECSS and NASA standardizations; Organization and follow-on of laboratory activities are considered a plus; Experience in R&D projects are considered a plus. Other Skills Required: Fluent English (spoken and written); Organized and methodical approach; Strong communication skills; High team working capabilities and customer orientation; Willingness to face and learn new things; Attitude towards innovation and problem-solving; Ability to work under stress and handle last-minute requests. Academic Background: Master degree in engineering (preferred choices are chemical engineering and aerospace engineering), materials engineering.
