Job Description
Location: Venice, CA 90291, USA Reporting to the Clinical Manager, the Lead Clinician is responsible for providing a wide variety of clinical services and documentation for the programs, including but not limited to assessment, treatment (individual, family, and group therapy; case management; counseling; crisis intervention; and advocacy service in accordance with their specific therapeutic needs). Primary duties are to ensure all documentation is completed and finalized within 24 hours in order to capture all fiscal opportunities, provide direct clinical work for Withdrawal Management & Sobering Center programs, work with the Admissions department on intakes, and act as Clinical Staff of the Day. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Complete and review all clinical documentation required by an LPHA, provides direct clinical work and/or therapeutic services to clients as measured by supervision and/or direct observation and outcomes. Complies with all documentation timelines as outlined in county contracts. Meets agency compliance standards and county documentation (progress notes, assessments, treatment planning, notes to chart) requirements in a timely fashion as outlined in policy and measured via tracking reports. Continually assesses the needs and symptoms of clients (meets medical necessity), formulating a psychosocial diagnosis, gathering history, and determining the most appropriate level of care. Continually assesses client progress and modifies treatment via completion and submission of outcome measures. For Sobering Center and Withdrawal Management clients, conducts case management linkage to the next level of care, creates treatment plans with clients, and liaises with Probation/Parole Officer or as applicable regarding client progress. In Electronic Health Record, accurately documents all work with the client and/or relevant persons as measured by QA standards and peer review audit results. Participates in clinical/case supervision by coming prepared to discuss current caseload, documentation, and productivity; accepts constructive feedback and direction; and puts feedback into clinical and/or therapeutic practice with clients. Establishes and maintains rapport and effective working relationships with clients, families, and community; works effectively within the Agency and community at large. Responsible for reporting requirements to contracted agencies. Responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with multiple referral sources. Responsible for the development and coordination of community involvement, outreach, and support. Maintains knowledge of program standards and policies as developed by Phoenix House, CARF, Community Care Licensing, SAPC, DMH, and other governing bodies; develops personal and professional knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in in-service programs. Maintains overall confidentiality regarding clients, families, and operations of the Agency (including media). Incorporates Agency philosophy and mission in all aspects of job performance. Maintains a professional relationship with clients, staff, and other outside stakeholders at all times. Exercises good judgment in the performance of duties and responsibilities. Attends all required staff training sessions in accordance with Phoenix House and state licensing requirements, completes all training on time. Attends and participates in program and all staff meetings. Adheres to and promotes the Phoenix House Mission, Vision, and Values while acting as a role model for others. Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/CREDENTIALS Master’s degree in social work, Marriage and Family Therapy or related field. LMFT or LCSW with current California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) Registration Required or ability to meet criteria to receive Licensure within 6 months. Must maintain licensure as a condition of employment. Experience in Substance Abuse or Mental Health preferred. Experience with SAPC, DMH, Community Care Licensing, and other governing bodies preferred. Evidenced-Based Trained/Certified in MAP, TF-CBT, SS preferred. Must maintain a valid California Drivers' License, have proof of automobile insurance, and maintain a safe driving record based on Phoenix House policy. Ability to establish and consistently enforce appropriate boundaries with patients. Ability to model positive behavior and demeanor. Understanding of addiction, co-occurring models, and treatment modalities. Understanding of adult/adolescent development and family systems. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Ability to be flexible; problem solver, self-directed; customer service-oriented, and collaborative.
