Job Description

SmartPro are working with an established client who are seeking an experienced Procurement Manager who will oversee the procurement, storage, and distribution of materials. This position requires a blend of logistical expertise, inventory control, and strategic planning to minimize costs while maximizing efficiency and quality.


Hours: 39 hours: Monday to Thursday 7.45am – 4.30pm Friday 7.45am – 1pm


Summary of duties of the Procurement Manager:

  • Oversee inventory levels to ensure optimal stock of materials. Implement and manage inventory tracking systems, perform regular stock audits, and lead inventory reduction initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure the timely acquisition of high-quality materials at competitive prices. Negotiate contracts and terms to benefit the company’s bottom line.
  • Work closely with production, planning, and engineering teams to forecast material needs. Coordinate logistics for incoming material shipments to align with production schedules.
  • Ensure all incoming materials meet our stringent quality standards.
  • Manage the materials budget, including forecasting, variance analysis, and financial reporting related to materials costs.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant industry regulations.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of materials specialists.
  • Leverage ERP systems to enhance inventory accuracy, reduce lead times, and increase order fulfillment rates.
  • Identify potential supply chain risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate these risks.


Required skills of the Procurement Manager:

  • Previous experience within a buyer/supply chain role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent Analytical and Negotiation skills
  • Ability to perform under stress
  • Purchasing and inventory management skills
  • Experience in carrying out 5S and other Continuous Improvement initiatives (preferred)
