Technical & Quality Manager — Innovative High-Growth B-Corp Leader
Hybrid working: 2 to 3 days per week based in Upminster, East London
Salary: £40,000 to £50,000 per annum + share scheme, pension, healthcare, life insurance, and holiday

Primary Responsibilities:
The Technical & Quality Manager role is a key position responsible for ensuring that products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance. This role involves overseeing quality control processes at contract manufacturers and packers, ensuring adherence to industry standards such as BRC, SALSA, GMP, and HACCP. Key responsibilities include developing robust quality assurance systems, conducting audits, managing customer complaints, and ensuring that all products meet labelling, safety, and regulatory specifications. The manager will also lead investigations into quality issues and implement corrective actions to maintain compliance and customer satisfaction.
In addition to quality assurance, the role encompasses managing technical documentation, including product specifications, safety data sheets, and export certifications. The Technical & Quality Manager will collaborate with internal teams like NPD (New Product Development) and supply chain departments to ensure the timely availability of high-quality raw materials and packaging. The role also involves maintaining organic certification processes, conducting supplier performance reviews, and driving continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating quality management systems and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to enhance overall business performance.
Key Requirements:
Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or related field. Postgraduate qualifications in Quality Management or Regulatory Affairs (preferred).
3+ years in a technical or quality management role within the food or beverage industry.
Experience working with contract manufacturers, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards (e.g., BRC, SALSA, GMP, HACCP).
Knowledge of raw material sourcing, product formulation, packaging, and export certification.
Experience with Organic accreditation and certification.
Strong project management and cross-functional team leadership skills.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Detail-oriented with the ability to find practical solutions.
Passion for food safety and product quality.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
Understanding of food industry regulations and sustainability practices.
