Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL)
Location: Westminster, London
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Contract Type: Full-time, Temp to Permanent
Start Date: January 2025

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) to join an amazing school in Westminster. This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of our students by playing a pivotal role in ensuring their safety and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
Safeguarding Leadership: Assist the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in managing all safeguarding and child protection concerns in line with statutory guidance and school policies.
Case Management: Handle referrals to social services and external agencies, maintaining meticulous records of safeguarding concerns and interventions.
Policy Implementation: Ensure the school's safeguarding policies and procedures are followed and remain compliant with relevant legislation, including Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE).
Training and Development: Deliver training to staff, ensuring they are confident and informed in identifying and reporting safeguarding issues.
Student Support: Provide guidance and support to students, fostering an environment where they feel safe, valued, and heard.
Collaboration: Work closely with the DSL, pastoral staff, external agencies, and families to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people.
Audits and Reporting: Support safeguarding audits, inspections, and reports to ensure ongoing compliance and excellence in safeguarding practices.
Essential Criteria:
Proven experience in safeguarding or child protection, preferably in an educational setting.
Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding legislation and guidance (e.g., KCSIE, Children Act 1989 & 2004).
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive issues with discretion and professionalism.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment.
Relevant qualifications in safeguarding or child protection (Level 3 or above is desirable).
A genuine commitment to the safety, well-being, and development of all children.
