Job Description

As a Project Engineering Lead (PEL) at ECS, you’ll join a skilled team responsible for designing and delivering world-class products within the Battlespace, Datalinks, and Spectrum Monitoring Systems (SMS) markets. This position combines project leadership with the line management of engineering personnel, making it an ideal role for someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.


This is a full-time permanent position that is being offered a hybrid basis, 3 days in the office is the minimum requirement.


Your Role and Responsibilities:

As the Engineering Project Lead, you’ll play a critical role in our engineering initiatives, supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and Revenue-Generating Projects. You’ll work closely with our Engineering Director, Engineering Manager and leadership team to manage projects from concept to delivery, ensuring alignment with business goals.

- Project Management: Oversee key engineering projects, including NPI and revenue-generating initiatives, while managing risk logs, action logs, and resource planning.

- Team Leadership: Line-manage a team of multi-disciplinary engineers, fostering a collaborative environment that supports personal and professional growth.

- Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for engineering across the product lifecycle, coordinating with departments like Business Development, Production, and Customer Support.

- Process Improvement: Drive the implementation of new tools and processes to enhance departmental efficiency and KPI tracking.

- External Collaboration: Manage contractors, external design houses, and subcontractors to ensure projects meet quality and delivery expectations.


Who We’re Looking For:

- Experience: Project/line management role within engineering, ideally in a small-to-medium-sized business.

- Technical Insight: Solid understanding of engineering tasks and technical requirements, particularly within an ISO 9001 environment.

- Leadership and Organisation: Strong organisational skills, with experience managing resources, action plans, and risk assessments.

- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communicator with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders.

- Qualifications: A bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering (or equivalent experience); AMP, Prince2, or similar certification is a plus.

- British citizenship or eligibility for UK security clearance is required.
