PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:
To be responsible for managing and maintaining inventory levels within the factory and warehouse. This includes monitoring stock levels, ensuring accuracy in inventory records, coordinating stock movements, and working closely with the purchasing and sales teams to maintain optimal stock levels. The role ensures that stock is efficiently organized and that inventory systems are kept up-to-date
CONTRACTED HOURS: 40 hours per week, Monday Friday 08:00-17:00
ENVIRONMENT: Demanding rapid response distribution unit
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THIS ROLE:
- Accurately purchase required stock items, negotiating for best possible prices, ensuring supplier lead time does not overlap our requirements.
- Maintain agreed stock levels and order necessary materials when required.
- To maintain the purchase order system ensuring that receipt of all goods is documented, amended delivery dates are updated, purchasers & production are notified.
- Track progress and changes of all raised purchase orders, notifying contracts managers of any possible delays or improvements from the supplier.
- Chase suppliers for delivery dates on orders on a weekly basis, updating the purchase order system, negotiating improved dates where possible.
- Contact suppliers with any orders that can be delayed as they are required later than expected, potentially improving delivery dates on other purchase orders.
- Ensure that stock is readily available for manufacture, finding alternative stock to use if possible, based on whats available in the warehouse or other orders that may be delivered sooner than required.
- Review supplier acknowledged dates against expected deliveries, inform contracts mangers of any material delays & work with planning to amend the production plan in line with those dates.
- Arrange transport of completed inter-branch orders to the yard with MBP Transport.
- Complete all inter-branch stock transfers for purchased or free-issued stock, ensuring necessary paperwork is raised, filled out correctly, and archived for traceability.
- Maintain a Damage Register for all goods damaged within the factory, ensuring replacements are either available from stock or reordered.
- Investigate missing deliveries and report any delivery shortages to suppliers, contract managers and production where required
- Identify & locate all redundant stock, reallocating to other projects where possible.
- Conduct routine stock checks of all stock items, ensuring that the stock list is as up-to-date and accurate, and reconcile any stock anomalies.
- Maintain open and regular communication between Sales, Purchasing, Warehouse and all unit Managers / Directors.
- Maintain filing system for all invoices / PODS / Purchase Orders
- Maintaining, updating and distributing a price matrix.
- Work closely with Purchase Ledger to ensure order are correct and payment can be made.
- Plan manufacturing date and raise picking tickets for glazed doors in line with door availability, joinery shop availability and production requirements.
- Archive signed picking tickets returned by the joinery shop.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
3 GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) or above including Maths and English
Previous experience is essential
Be highly analytical and numerate and be able to interpret and compare a range of information.
Good organisational and time management skills
Working knowledge of MS Office packages is essential, particularly Excel.
Strong verbal and written communication skills

ADDITIONAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Previous experience using Sage would be advantageous
Current FLT licence would be advantageous
Must take a flexible approach, as this role will occasionally require additional hours and weekend work.
