Job Description
Job Title: Associate Assistant Principal / Head / Lead Practitioner / Teacher of Maths
Salary: LS05 to LS10 (AAP role) / MPS/UPS + TLR1A at £9,782
Contract Type: Full Time, Fixed Term / Permanent
Start Date: January 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter
Location: Stalybridge, Greater Manchester
Due to an unforeseen circumstance the need has arisen for MLK Education Search to support this small coeducational Secondary Academy in Greater Manchester to appoint an exceptional candidate who can teach or lead in a forward thinking and ambitious Mathematics department, ideally on a permanent basis but fixed term or temporary contracts will be considered for the right person.
Recently graded Good (June 24) they are described as a fully inclusive school that provides fantastic pastoral care and support for their students and provides an ambitious curriculum to challenge and achieve the best possible outcomes for their learners. The successful applicant will be joining an established Maths department and as an AAP or Head of Department, you will hold additonal responsibilities to:
Create an action plan for the improvement of Mathematics
Develop a training and coaching programme for all departmental staff ensuring that they develop into highly effective classroom practitioners
Advise all staff on available resources and encourage the use of innovative approaches to learning and teaching
Ensure that the curriculum for Mathematics is kept up to date and that it meets the needs of all learners
Keep schemes for learning under review and regularly update them to ensure that they are relevant and engaging
Monitor the progress of all students in the department ensuring that subject staff intervene to support any student falling below their target level
Regularly quality assure all aspects of work within the department, intervening where appropriate to ensure that all staff continue to improve as practitioners
Make available to the line manager through regular meetings and reports a reliable assessment of departmental performance and an account of the impact of improvement initiatives.
You will also hold responsibility for managing the following staff:
Lead Practitioner in Mathematics
Second in Department for Mathematics
Mathematics Teachers
Conducting performance reviews in accordance with Academy policy
Managing attendance and performance
Participating in the recruitment and selection of new staff as needed
Holding regular line management meetings as per the published calendar and scheme
