Job Title: Electrical Engineer (Building Services)
Location: Aberdeen, Scotland
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000/DOE
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Electrical Engineer to join our client's dynamic team in Aberdeen, specialising in Building Services. As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, installing, and maintaining electrical systems within commercial, residential, and industrial buildings. You will collaborate with architects, contractors, and other engineering teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality electrical solutions that meet safety, sustainability, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Development:
Design electrical systems for building services, including lighting, power distribution, emergency systems, fire alarms, and security.
Develop and specify electrical systems and equipment to meet client requirements, project specifications, and building codes.
Conduct load calculations, lighting design, circuit design, and energy efficiency assessments.
Prepare and review technical documentation, including drawings, schedules, and specifications.
Compliance & Quality Control:
Ensure electrical systems comply with national and international building regulations, electrical standards, and safety codes.
Assist with testing, commissioning, and handover of electrical systems to clients.
Produce detailed reports and assessments to demonstrate compliance and performance.
Sustainability & Energy Efficiency:
Promote sustainable and energy-efficient electrical designs and solutions.
Identify opportunities for reducing energy consumption and implementing renewable technologies (e.g., solar, LED, BMS integration).
Client Liaison:
Engage with clients and stakeholders to understand their needs and provide technical advice.
Offer recommendations and solutions to improve electrical system performance and efficiency.
Provide ongoing support during the operational phase of projects.
Skills & Experience:
Qualifications:
Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent qualification).
Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards it (preferred but not essential).
Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. CIBSE) is desirable.
Experience:
Proven experience in electrical design and engineering within the Building Services sector, ideally with experience in both commercial and residential projects.
Strong understanding of UK electrical standards and codes of practice.
Hands-on experience with electrical design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech, or similar.
Experience in managing and coordinating electrical projects, including liaising with clients, contractors, and design teams.
Skills:
Strong technical knowledge and problem-solving skills in electrical design and systems.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
