BMS Design Engineer

Job Description
We are looking for an experienced BMS Design Engineer to deliver the design of complex Building Management Systems projects. As a design engineer, you will oversee the development of detailed BMS controls system design from sales quotations, contract documentation, specifications and drawings.
You will work with all members of the project team including Project directors, project managers, design/consulting engineers, third party suppliers, manufacturers and management contractors.
The Key Result Areas for this role are:
Project Delivery
* Ensures quality control of design activities on projects and ensures the company quality standards are upheld (ISO 9001 Quality Control System)
* Works with other engineers to identify and develop solutions for new projects.
* Attends project handover meetings from sales to engineering
* Attends design meetings on and off-site as and when required
* Ensures projects are delivered to a high technical standard
* Ensures design complies with the contract documentation, specifications and drawings
* Ensures design is completed in time to meet deadlines for client approval, CAD, software and panel manufacture
* Produces documentation to record and support the design of the system, e.g., equipment schedules (FCUs, meters, valves etc.), point schedules, descriptions of operation, etc.
* Sources technical information from manufacturers and suppliers as required
* Creates and submits requests for information (RFIs) to clients, ensuring receipt of a clear response and subsequent incorporation of any changes into the design documentation
* Creates and submits technical submittals to the client, ensuring incorporation of any comments into the design documentation prior to manufacture'
* Identifies to the project manager any design changes which may constitute a variation to the contract
* Ensures that sufficient detailed information is presented to the CAD design engineers and is of an appropriate standard
* Checks and approves all drawings created by the project CAD design engineer(s) prior to client issue or manufacture
* Works on multiple projects in parallel as and when necessary
Commercial Awareness
* Understands the project hours budgeted for design
* Ensures work is carried out efficiently to maximise company profitability
* Assists the project manager by ensuring additional work is identified and additional costs claimed when appropriate
* Completes and submits weekly timesheets for job costing at the beginning of every week
Team Involvement
* Works with the project manager and other departments to deliver individual projects
* Liaises with CAD design engineers and software engineers on a continual basis to ensure that they are aware of project requirements
* Provides technical support to CAD design engineers
* Provides technical and non-technical support to less experienced engineers within the business
* Helps colleagues to find solutions to problems
* Contributes to a friendly and positive environment within the company
* Participates in the development of trainee staff
Requirements:
* Proven track record in BMS design on previous projects
* Relevant technical accreditations and qualifications
* Sound working knowledge of building services mechanical and electrical systems
* Sound working knowledge of building management systems (including but not limited to Trend, Distech, Tridium
