Job Description

Minimum requirements: 5 years of management experience in an operational role. Solid understanding of Health and Safety regulations. Relevant qualification would be beneficial. Forklift license (beneficial). Personality Traits: Be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Strong communication skills. Problem-solving capabilities. Ability to proactively plan and execute accordingly. Strong leadership and management skills. Duties and responsibilities: Receiving: Manage and control the receiving of all goods into the facility. Ensure receiving operates in line with company processes. Stock Management: Manage and control all stock storage and handling between, and in, stock storage/handling locations. Ensure all stock is tracked and accounted for. Ensure cooling pallets are stored and handled in line with the companys processes. Pallet Handling and Storage: Ensure pallet capture and storage/handling processes are followed. Ensure cold and ambient pallets are stored in the correct locations in line with the companys processes. Capture pallet movement information in line with the companys processes. Manage cold and ambient storage areas. Dispatch: Manage and control the picking and dispatch of all goods out of the facility. Ensure all goods picked and dispatched are done according to the prescribed process. Responsible for ensuring loadouts and turnaround times are adhered to. Ensure customer queries are resolved within 24 hours of delivery. Logistics: Manage inbound and outbound logistics, aligned with budget, SLAs, and slot times. Manage, plan, and control the daily logistics for all the companys and related parties' business: Daily inbound truck and logistics plan to be completed and communicated to the management team for all farm/market/other raw material planning. Farm/Grower logistics routes and planning done with Commercial. Outbound trucks and logistics planning to be in line with slot times and budgeted transport rates. Daily outbound truck and logistics plan to be completed and communicated to the management team based on order volumes and most effective truck utilisation/efficiencies. Truck and logistics planning over weekends to be completed every Friday for distribution to weekend manager(s). Customer and internal agreed slot times are to be adhered to daily. Communicate operations "rules" and procedures to customers/transporters regularly. Ensure drivers and assistants have a clear weekly plan and schedule, which is shared with management. Equipment: Ensure all packing equipment (Chep; FM crates; pallets; bins; farm equipment) is managed efficiently. Ensure farm and Chep equipment are managed according to the controls in place. Ensure forklift charging and maintenance are conducted, including load testing and diesel. Ensure generator servicing and maintenance are done as required, and diesel is always filled. Conduct facility electricity readings and keep records of meters. Facility and Security: Ensure security and safety of staff and inventory. Ensure office and packhouse equipment is maintained in good order. Manage the facility machinery, equipment, and that of related service providers/agents. Manage the opening and closing of the facility daily and ensure the business is securely closed and locked up at the end of each day. Conduct facility electricity readings and keep records of meters. Control stock counts on pallets, bins, and crates. Manage the yard and waste area, including waste bins, recycling, pallets, farm crates, and bins. Monitor the security of the yard and the facility (inside and out). Staff: Build and manage a strong team of skilled staff. Ensure staff are trained, equipped, and capable of doing the job required. Ensure the number of staff in each area matches the demands of the business. Manage staff performance and discipline. Manage leave and time schedules according to HR procedures. Ensure all staff have the required PPE and conform to all customer requirements. Operations Budget: Prepare the annual operations budget with the operations team and staging manager. Manage operations in line with the budget. General: Manage processes and procedures effectively in the division. Ensure that the business is up and running at the prescribed times each day. Ensure that the required inbound or outbound operations are completed or handed over to a manager each day before leaving the premises. Be visible and manage the teams in the receiving, cold stores, and dispatch area conduct the flow of products through the facility effectively. Walk the facility inside and out daily to look for possible security risks, faulty or damaged machinery, equipment, water leaks, good operation of lights, and electrical systems. Inspect the yard area and waste area daily check for any possible loss opportunities, cleanliness, and/or food safety risks. Check the camera systems and security system daily for good operation, recording, and response. Check the electrical backup changeover and generating system for smooth startup and switchover in a power failure situation diesel levels and service history schedule of generator diesel engine. Perform forklift inspection and maintenance checks to avoid failures. Inspect electric and manual pallet jacks daily and conduct preventative maintenance. Conduct general inspections and daily walks to be aware of the entire facility and any issues. Ensure broken or damaged equipment, buildings, doors, etc., are repaired and fixed quickly. Additional Duties and Responsibilities: Keep to hygiene and company rules and regulations. Assist with managing time and attendance of receiving staff. Assist with the discipline and performance management of receiving staff. Any reasonable task given by management.
