Job Description

My client, a world leader in the development of scientific instrumentation, are looking for a Business Development Manager in Southampton, to join their team.

The team has many years' experience in, and is selling into both R&D, and OEM customers. They have a range of stock crystals & waveguides and can design custom chips for the demanding customer base.

The role will involve working primarily in a technology rich sales environment, focusing on selling their existing product lines, managing opportunities from enquiry through to close and some financial reporting.

This role would be ideal for a technically qualified individual looking to progress their career in Technical Sales.

Responsibilities for the Business Development Manager based in Southampton:

  • Proactively create opportunities for product sales
  • Respond to enquiries and work with customers to maximise our order intake
  • Support the HoS with campaigns focussed on new customer acquisition
  • Develop quotes, proposals and sales contracts consulting with the delivery team on operational matters

Skills & experience for the Business Development Manager based in Southampton :

  • Provable experience in a fast-moving sales environment
  • Relevant degree or equivalent e.G. Physics, Optics, Materials Science
  • Ability to work as an individual but can work as part of a team based in the UK
  • Ability to develop new long-term relationships with customers
