Job Description
Job Purpose / Overview
The Sizewell C (SZC) project requires a BIM Technician to take a role in the Civil Works Alliance Digital Project Delivery Team. The role involves contributing to and implementing the Digital Strategy and Digital Execution Plan. This includes developing methods for delivering digital information on one of the UK’s largest infrastructure projects, embedding any specific standards, methods, and/or procedures required by the client.
Contextual Information
SZC is owned by EDF and HMG, with investments held through NNB Holdings Company (SZC) Limited. The shareholders will fund SZC up until Financial Close through equity. SZC’s business includes designing, financing, constructing, commissioning, operating, maintaining, and decommissioning the nuclear power plant and related infrastructure at Sizewell C in Suffolk.
Key stakeholders include the UK Government, relevant government departments and agencies, EDF, financial investors, regulators, alliance partners, and local communities.
Principal Accountabilities, Activities, and Decisions
Implement the project BIM Execution Plan: Use 3D and 4D modelling software to support design review processes, model management, and clash detection.
Promote best practices: Work within a Common Data Environment and promote best practices for delivering graphical and non-graphical information.
Handle GIS and bathymetry data: Work with different grid reference systems and manage GIS and bathymetry data processes.
Client information requirements: Support the identification and delivery of client information requirements, including asset information deliverables (COBie).
Governance of Common Data Environment (CDE): Own the requirements and governance of the Alliance CDE, enabling production teams and supply chain coordination.
Master Information Delivery Plan (MIDP): Own and implement the Civil Works Alliance level MIDP and coordinate alignment with scheme level Task Information Delivery Plans (TIDPs).
Leadership and guidance: Provide leadership and guidance for information delivery and process sprint teams.
Information Execution Plan (IEP): Work collaboratively with production to define scheme level IEPs.
Innovative working methods: Develop and implement business cases for adopting innovative ways of working.
Quality assurance: Establish requirements and assurance for information delivery in collaboration with the Quality team.
Project integration: Implement processes and technology to integrate project delivery with design models, costs, as-built models, and asset information/data.

GIS and bathymetry data processes
Working with different grid reference systems

Understanding COBie asset requirements
Delivering graphical and non-graphical data in line with a BIM Execution Plan
Working within a Common Data Environment
Familiarity with BS and PAS digital project delivery guidelines
Collaborative working in consulting or contracting environments
Proficiency in IT and numeracy
Good communication skills and ability to form effective relationships
Strong technical ability with digital software applications; 4D and 5D modelling experience beneficial
Commitment to learning, development, and supporting digital team members
Proactively working towards technical membership or professional qualifications
Valid CSCS card
Qualifications & Experience
NVQ Level 3 and/or 3-5 years of industry experience in a similar role
Understanding Digital Level 2 Standards and Protocols
Understanding of COBie requirements as per PAS1192-4
Some understanding of design, construction, surveying, and asset management
Experience with Bentley, AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM 360 applications
GIS application experience
Synchro Software experience or equivalent
Model verification application experience
