The below job description will outline this position of: Technical Manager
Typically, this person will be a Chartered Engineer with a marine engineering degree or a Class 1 Certificate of Competency as Engineer Officer, along with senior-level seagoing experience and a strong background in onshore Technical Superintendence.

Duties and responsibilities of the Technical Manager:
Ensure compliance of the fleet with Class and Flag State regulations.
Oversee fleet budgets, manage expenses, and track performance against KPIs.
Evaluate new vessel requirements and relay findings to the Technical Manager and Special Projects team.
Supervise fleet projects and prepare monthly updates for the Operations Director.
Foster effective communication across departments, with clients, and vessel owners.
Lead operational and fleet meetings to promote collaboration and alignment.
Guarantee smooth vessel operations while managing and assessing Vessel Managers’ performance.
Plan and streamline dry dock and maintenance schedules, including shipyard selection and cost optimisation.
Deliver timely technical solutions and contribute to operational budget management.
Provide coverage for Vessel Managers as needed and handle additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and requirement for the Technical Manager:
Technical Expertise: Extensive knowledge of marine engineering, ship repairs, and dry-docking, with experience in Defence Maritime operations.
Experience: At least 5 years in technical or engineering roles within the marine industry, specialising in docking operations.
Certification: Valid Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency (CoC) with relevant vessel experience.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead technical teams and manage contractors effectively.
Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of maritime regulations and classification standards, especially for RFA and Royal Navy operations.
Problem-Solving: Skilled in analysing and resolving technical challenges proactively.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical matters clearly.
Negotiation: Assertive with strong negotiation abilities and the capacity to engage senior industry stakeholders.
Attention to Detail: Precise in managing inspections, documentation, and technical operations.
Global Mobility: Willingness to travel internationally as required.
