Job Description
Job Title: Quantity Surveyor – Power Transmission & Distribution
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in the Power Transmission & Distribution sector to provide commercial support at a project level across live projects and tender opportunities. This role involves detailed project administration, subcontract management, and financial oversight, particularly within the context of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts (Options A & C). You will work closely with the project delivery team to maximize profitability and support strategic commercial objectives.
Key Technical Responsibilities
* Financial Reporting: Conduct monthly internal reporting through Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) and internal commercial procedures; report monthly to the client in line with contractual requirements.
* Cash Flow Management: Develop activity schedules, submit monthly valuations, and manage subcontractor accounts to optimize cash flow.
* Risk Management: Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities, applying value engineering where feasible and ensuring contract compliance on change events.
* Contract Administration: Administer NEC3 and NEC4 contracts, including early warnings, compensation events, quotations, and subcontract implementation.
* Estimating and Cost Management: Prepare cost estimates for tenders and compensation events, manage subcontract enquiries, and oversee project-level commercial Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
* Payment Adherence: Ensure timely payments and accurate subcontract management throughout the project lifecycle.
Functional Responsibilities
* Project Team Collaboration: Work closely with project teams to enforce key business drivers and outcomes, focusing on profitability and client/subcontractor relations.
* Tender Preparation: Assist with tender preparation and submission, ensuring accurate costings and sound knowledge of tender processes.
* Client and Team Communication: Interact effectively with clients, colleagues, and third-party stakeholders to meet project objectives.
* Leadership and Mentorship: Support the development of junior team members by providing commercial guidance and identifying training needs.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within the Power Transmission & Distribution sector.
* Education: BSc or HND in Quantity Surveying or a related commercial subject (or equivalent qualification).
* Estimating Skills: Proven estimating experience is required.
* Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with construction methods, NEC3 and NEC4 forms of contract (Options A & C), and standard forms of measurement.
* Computer Literacy: Proficiency in MS Office Suite and experience with project planning and reporting software.
* Analytical Skills: Ability to read, interpret, and analyze project programs effectively.
