Assistant Area Manager – Roofing Industry
Location: Birmingham (Midlands)
Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: Competitive + Car Allowance + Benefits
We are seeking an enthusiastic and driven individual to join our team as a Assistant Area Manager within the roofing industry. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for sales, customer relationship management, and technical knowledge in the construction or roofing sector.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist in generating specifications and project opportunities within your geographical area, fostering relationships with both new and existing clients.
* Collaborate closely with your Senior Area Manager to achieve and exceed annual sales targets.
* Provide exceptional service to clients, contractors, and internal teams, ensuring strong day-to-day relationships.
* Work alongside your line manager and the Technical Department to assist in surveying projects, preparing condition reports, and developing specifications.
* Identify and develop new business opportunities, including cold calling, networking, and delivering CPD seminars.
* Take ownership of projects, acting as Project Manager from inception to completion.
* Maintain and update client and contractor records, ensuring all information is accurate and up-to-date.
Qualifications:
* Degree or relevant professional qualification (desirable).
* Membership of the Institute of Roofing (desirable).
Experience:
* Proven experience in specification sales or a construction-related environment, particularly with an emphasis on relationship management.
* Background in flat roofing, including primary waterproofing systems.
* Experience in writing detailed specifications and reports.
* Track record of working to tight deadlines and achieving sales targets.
* Experience in delivering presentations and managing client relationships.
* Ability to work independently, including lone working.
Knowledge:
* In-depth knowledge of building regulations and British Standards related to the flat roofing industry.
* Familiarity with public and private sector requirements, as well as emerging industry trends.
* Awareness of NFRC developments and regulatory changes.
Skills and Abilities:
* Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with a customer-focused mindset.
* Excellent time management and organizational skills to prioritize tasks effectively.
* High attention to detail, with the ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure.
* Strong written, oral, and presentation communication skills.
* Ability to absorb and interpret technical information and apply it in your daily role.
Additional Requirements:
* Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle (Essential Car User).
* Willingness to travel, including foreign travel when required (valid passport required).
* Flexibility to work outside normal office hours as needed.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office and relevant software.
