Due to continued growth and an expanding project pipeline, we are currently seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their dynamic team in the East Midlands.
Role Overview
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in managing costs and ensuring the successful delivery of housing projects from pre-construction through to completion. You will work closely with the commercial and construction teams to deliver accurate cost estimates, maintain project budgets, and manage financial reporting. Key Responsibilities
Cost Management: Prepare detailed cost plans, budgets, and financial reports, ensuring accuracy and value for money throughout the lifecycle of the project.
Tendering & Subcontractor Management: Manage tender processes, assess subcontractor bids, and make recommendations for subcontracts and orders.
Site Cost Control: Monitor costs on-site, ensuring that projects are delivered on budget and identify areas for cost savings without compromising quality.
Variations & Claims: Assess and manage variations, including pricing client extras and issuing instructions to subcontractors and suppliers.
Reporting & Analysis: Prepare monthly cost reports, track cost performance, and provide forecasts and cash flow projections.
Stakeholder Liaison: Liaise effectively with the construction team, subcontractors, clients, and other key stakeholders to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
Compliance: Ensure projects adhere to all relevant regulations, standards, and company policies.
Value Engineering: Participate in value engineering exercises to help optimise project costs and deliver value for money.
Skills & Experience
Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years' experience as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally within the residential housebuilding sector.
Qualifications: A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management (or equivalent).
Software Knowledge: Proficiency in relevant software such as Eque2, E-Vision, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Excel.
Analytical & Numerical Skills: Strong financial and analytical skills, with the ability to manage budgets and forecast accurately.
Communication & Negotiation: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to negotiate effectively with contractors and suppliers.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail when managing costings, estimates, and financial reports.
Knowledge of Construction Methods: Sound understanding of residential construction processes, materials, and legal standards.
Problem-Solving: Ability to resolve issues and find cost-effective solutions during the construction process.
