About this client/child: We would like to introduce you to Rosa, a happy, positive, bright, and enthusiastic 9-year-old who loves Zumba dance classes, swimming / hydrotherapy, playing piano, and singing in her school choir – and to chat! Rosa lives in a gorgeous part of Hampshire, having recently relocated to the area is keen to explore all it has to offer. She lives with her Mum, and Nana is close by, and they have a great relationship. She attends a local mainstream school and loves to learn. Rosa has Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy (mostly controlled via medication), she can walk with her walker for short distances and uses a wheelchair for long distances or when fatigued. Rosa can weight bear, however, requires confident assistance with all transfers. She is very articulate, requiring her SEN Support Worker / PA to be patient as her pronunciation can be harder to understand at the beginning. Rosa enjoys a varied diet, and can eat food that has been cut up, although on occasions when she is tired will require some support and assistance. Rosa is a very determined young lady, and she strives for her independence; There are subtle signs that require close attention to Rosa’s need for extra support in various areas, helping her manage her energy and fatigue levels effectively
Overview of role: Each term, Rosa’s extracurricular activities differ but for now, there are planned activities on set days of the week. Two days a week Rosa’s mum works, so you must feel comfortable working in a sole charge role at times. School pick-up is 3.30 pm, then home for some down time before getting ready for activities. We cannot emphasise enough how active Rosa’s after-school and weekend curriculum is; she is also quite tall for her age so you must be physically fit and able, especially as Rosa wants to participate fully, therefore, she will require full support to do so. Rosa would like support with widening her friendship group, and her social side of life also. There are two weekday afterschool shifts per week, and two Saturday shifts per month available; if you could offer additional weekend hours, that would be a huge advantage. Rosa and her mum can be very flexible as to which days are covered.
Who this job would suit: Confident working both in a sole charge and shared care role. Excellent communication and organisational skills. The successful applicants will be emotionally mature, and most importantly, really love to have a laugh and be a bit silly! Rosa thrives on positive fun interaction. This role is open to *female candidates only, and you must be confident supporting a child in the water / during hydrotherapy sessions.
What’s great about this job: Number one is Rosa! She is a lot of fun to work with, and this is a role where you will really make a difference to a young person’s life. You will have the opportunity to bring creative ideas to Rosa and her family. There will be excellent onboarding and ongoing supervision from both Rosa’s mum and Case Manager.
