Job Description
Our client, a company renowned for quality and innovation in structural frameworks and large-scale steel installations, is seeking an experienced Cost Controller to manage the financial costing aspects of their key steel-focused projects. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a proven track record in the steel industry, exceptional analytical skills, and expertise in cost control and contract management.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure cost variances are reported promptly and accurately, implementing corrective actions where necessary.
Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly costs to ensure budgets are adhered to and reporting is accurate.
Prepare and submit interim valuations monthly to maintain positive project cash flow.
Oversee interim valuations, applications for payment, and negotiate project final accounts.
Produce internal cost/value reports when required
Evaluate hours allocated during the tender process against actual hours worked in fabrication.
Conduct steel take-offs, measuring and qualifying materials from drawings and specifications.
Raise and issue sub-contract orders where applicable (e.g., decking).
Enter budgets and costings into the company's software systems.
Manage and record contracts, bonds, retentions, and collateral warranty documentation.
Attend client pre-construction and start meetings, as required.
Work collaboratively with various departments to ensure proper cost allocation and control.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Demonstrated costing expertise within the steel industry (essential).
Comprehensive understanding of steel-related costs, supplier networks, and contract management practices (essential).
Exceptional analytical and numerical abilities.
Skilled communicator and negotiator with a purposeful, results-driven approach.
Strong attention to detail and precision.
