Job Description

Key Responsibilities: Supervision: Supervises works in the field, ensuring all activities are performed in compliance with the requirements of the relevant specifications, codes and standards. Reports status and observations regularly to the Construction Manager, as detailed below. Review electrical specifications / drawings and ensure onsite works are carried out in accordance. Attends and contributes to site meetings and report on specific matters directly related to the works. Assists with establishing and maintaining relationships across stakeholders and contractors; takes the lead in coordinating the interface relationship between civil and electrical contractors ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with the work programme. Assist the Construction Manager to coordinate works onsite and manage contractor interfaces. Collaborate with engineers and subcontractors to determine project needs. Supervises access and the movement of materials, plant and equipment to and within the site and work area in a safe and efficient manner. Monitors and reviews the performance of plant, labour, and subcontractors to ensure production targets are met or improved and takes appropriate action as required. Reporting and communication Monitors contractor performance against schedule and provides input into project schedule management. Monitors construction activities in accordance with construction schedules. Records information as required to successfully supervise a subcontractor e.g. maintains daily diary notes. Safety & environment Adopt a zero tolerance to work practices and equipment that may be unsafe or have serious adverse Safety or environmental impact. Monitors plant safety and identifies safety hazards in respect of plant. Leads by example by meeting their own safety KPIs whilst ensuring project team member(s) and subcontractor supervisor(s) are also meeting their safety KPIs. Makes himself/herself aware of all his/her WH&S responsibilities as detailed in the Systems Procedures Manual Ensures compliance with all ACCIONA management system procedures including: verifies Daily Checklists, Weekly Checklists and works with Permits where required. Conducts team / toolboxes meetings. Participates in the review of Safe Work Method Statements Participates in incident investigation process where required. Reports all incidents to Management in line with procedures set down and provides for the appropriate support to manage such Quality Takes responsibility for the quality compliance of work under their supervision Ensures non-conformances are recorded and corrective actions initiated Provides positive leadership to subcontractors, monitors, and controls their performance and ensures the quality and standard of workmanship is performed Drives commitment to quality both top down and bottom up Required Skills and Competencies Tertiary education in Electrical Engineering (ND,Bsc Eng or BTech) Minimum 3 years’ experience, working in the construction industry on large scale projects to deliver high voltage electrical infrastructure. Involvement in the construction and testing of electrical substations and transmission lines including the assembly of primary plant, knowledge of secondary systems and MV cable jointing. Involvement in PV installations Involvement in HV jointing and switching experience would be an advantage. Working knowledge of South African HS&E requirements and legislation Competency in MS Office Must be energetic with a positive can-do attitude. Impeccable attention to detail, judgement, and integrity. Current Driver’s License. Flexibility to travel locally as required.
