Job Description

RINA is currently recruiting for a Outfitting Inspector to join its office in Palermo, Italy within the Marine Consulting Division. Mission RINA Consulting is looking for an Outfitting Inspector for the Marine Consulting Business Unit. Key Accountabilities He/She will mainly take care of all the inspections regarding construction of the outfitting of the ship (pipes, ducts, cable trays, etc.) He/She has good knowledge of outfitting construction rules and requirements during ship building. He/She has a good ability in reading and understanding outfitting drawings. He/She will study the outfitting approved drawings. He/She will verify the correspondence between approved and shipyard construction drawings. He/She will study all welding procedures applied for the construction of the outfitting. He/She will verify the welding material certificates and storage according to the requirements. He/She is an expert in mounting and positioning of the outfitting. He/She will learn the internal procedures of the shipyard from the steel material storage, identification of the material to the completion of the construction and delivery. He/She will study the shipyard booklets on typical arrangements and mountings of the outfitting. He/She will take care of the tests required during construction: tightness, strength, NDT: VT, RT, UT, PT. He/She will verify the performance of all the equipment of the ship according to the contractual requirements. In cooperation with the shipyard QC department, he/She records and follows up on findings and NC related to the outfitting. He/She will report to the Team Leader. Education Master’s Degree in Naval Engineering. Qualifications • Minimum 3 years’ experience working as a Junior Surveyor or minimum 5 years’ experience in the engineering or survey fields within the marine industry or other applicable industry to their specialization. • Proficiency in the English language commensurate with the scope of classification, statutory certification, related services and, before assignment, with their future work. • Ability to develop a working knowledge of RINA Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions, as well as the RINA Employee Safety Policy. • Ability to understand engineering plans and have basic knowledge of shipbuilding practices and ship operations. • Ability to perform new building surveys, ship in service surveys, Marine Management Systems audits, and testing activities and service suppliers/manufacturers certification. • Knowledge of ships' engineering systems and machinery. • Knowledge of computer programs or software packages related to job responsibilities. • Knowledge of related technical interfaces required for group project work.
