We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Site Manager – Rail (de-vegetation) to join our dynamic AIW/IM team at Treforest - on site working role.
In this role, you will support the Project Manager (Major de-veg) by managing the delivery of major de-vegetation works across the Core Valley Lines in Wales, for example, ensuring works are undertaken in line with the agreed major de-veg programme and in line with NR-L2-OTK-5201ISSUE 5 (Mod 1-4), assuring safety and compliance at all times. You will collaborate with internal and external teams to plan and manage traffic management requirements and costs, third party landowners adjacent to the CVL for local agreements, arrange Track Access Requirements and manage all Site access.
This role offers you the unique opportunity to work with IM in managing the delivery of major de-vegetation works across the Core Valley Lines in Wales.The Biggest ever investment for transport infrastructure in Wales!
What You’ll Do:
- Ensure works are underatken in line with the agreed major de-veg programme
- Ensure works have been carried out in line with NR-L2-OTK-5201ISSUE 5 (Mod 1-4)
- Manage toolbox talks and ensure they are briefed weekly
- Carry out Level 1 assurance check (Once a month), ensure Amey Infrastructure Wales representatives have carried out monthly audits
- Compile site paperwork - Daily sign in sheets, HSE check sheets, Contractor Task Briefing Sheets
- Authorise planned System of Works (SSOW) produced by the Planner
- Act as an Amey Infrastructure Wales Supervisor assuring high risk Arborist activities as per the planned works
- Ensure any risks identified on site are recorded and represented on documentation
- Review Subcontractor Work Site Plans, Task Briefing Sheets and Risk Assessments
- Weekly walkouts to ensure contractors comply with scope of works
- Responsible for managing hand back documents and signing off the completed works
- Manage Stage 1 / DDD gang surveys and program
- Manage all plant requirements to ensure – (Road Rail Vehicle contractors know the delivery/pickups, all equipment/attachments for upcoming works, request an Any Line Open Paperwork for delivery/pickups, send compound delivery forms to compound managers for upcoming deliveries)

What You’ll Bring:
- Experience of Tree felling techniques.
- Experience of managing a team using chain saws and other vegetation hand tools.
- Should be able to recognise the importance of following correct procedures associated with high-risk arborist activities.
- Previous experience working in a live Rail environment as a Major vegetation site manager
- PTS
- COSS
- ES
- Full UK driving license
