Behaviour Mentor - Secondary School
Location: Southwark, London
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Full-time, Long-Term (until the end of the academic year)
Pay: Dependent on experience
About the Role:
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Behaviour Mentor to join a mainstream secondary school in Southwark, starting immediately. This is a full-time, long-term position, supporting students to improve their behaviour, social skills, and engagement with learning. The role will run until the end of the academic year, offering a rewarding experience in a supportive school environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with behavioural challenges.
Implement strategies to encourage positive behaviour and reduce incidents of disruptive behaviour.
Work closely with teachers and the SENCO to develop and support Behavioural Intervention Plans.
Monitor and track students' progress, reporting back to teachers, senior leaders, and parents where necessary.
Foster a positive and inclusive school environment by promoting good behaviour and respect.
Assist in managing challenging situations and conflicts in a calm, constructive manner.
Support students during break times and ensure they are engaging appropriately with their peers.Requirements:
Proven experience working with children, ideally in an educational or behavioural support setting.
Strong understanding of strategies for managing challenging behaviour.
Ability to build rapport with students and support their individual needs.
Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to working with students.
A DBS on the update service or the willingness to undergo a new DBS check.
A strong commitment to improving student behaviour and outcomes.
Experience working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) is desirable but not essential.If you are passionate about supporting young people and have the relevant experience, we want to hear from you.
