Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced and driven Project Manager to lead water resource projects that align with national and international frameworks, including the UK Water Framework Directive (WFD). You will play a pivotal role in delivering projects that promote sustainable water management, environmental compliance, and innovation. This role involves managing multidisciplinary teams, working closely with stakeholders, and ensuring projects are completed to the highest standards of quality, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Leadership:
Oversee the entire lifecycle of water-related projects, from inception and planning to execution and completion.
Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and budgets while proactively managing risks and issues.
Coordinate and manage input from diverse teams, including engineers, scientists, and contractors.
Compliance and Regulation:
Ensure all projects adhere to the Water Framework Directive, local environmental policies, and other relevant UK regulations.
Lead on securing necessary permits and approvals from regulators such as the Environment Agency.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Build strong relationships with government agencies, local authorities, and private sector partners.
Act as the main liaison between stakeholders, providing clear updates and resolving concerns.
Resource and Team Management:
Allocate and manage project resources effectively, ensuring optimal team performance.
Oversee procurement processes for equipment, services, and materials, ensuring cost efficiency and compliance with UK standards.
Quality Assurance and Reporting:
Monitor project quality, ensuring deliverables meet regulatory and stakeholder expectations.
Prepare and present regular project reports, financial summaries, and environmental impact assessments.
Skills and Experience:
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification.
Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Water Resources Management, or a related discipline.
Proven track record in delivering water management projects in the UK, with a strong understanding of the Water Framework Directive.
Experience managing budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams.
Technical Expertise:
Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and relevant software (e.g., GIS, AutoCAD).
Strong knowledge of hydrology, water treatment systems, and sustainable water management practices.
Soft Skills:
Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders and manage competing priorities.
Desirable Qualifications:
Membership in relevant professional bodies, such as the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) or Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).
