Job Description

This role is the first point of contact for the Workday finance system. The role supports the ongoing evolution of finance processes, systems, and automation while maintaining compliance with global and local regulations. This role contributes to the transformation agenda by participating in finance system upgrades, process re-engineering, and data-driven decision-making initiatives. This role also plays a key part in supporting finance teams to adopt new systems and ensuring that the finance organization remains agile and compliant. Responsibilities: Finance Transformation: Partner with the Global Director of Finance Transformation to drive the continuous improvement and modernization of finance processes, systems, and technologies. Lead and participate in initiatives aimed at automating and optimizing finance workflows to ensure scalability and future-readiness. Support the rollout of new finance systems, ensuring user adoption through training, go-live support, and ongoing system optimization. Analyze proposed system changes, assess the impact on processes and users, and recommend solutions for smooth transitions. Collaborate with IT and finance teams to design, implement, and optimize finance automation tools (e.g., RPA, AI, machine learning). Workday Module Management: Oversee the management of Workday's procurement, leasing, and fixed assets modules to streamline processes and ensure data accuracy. Administer and coordinate activities and processes in the Workday procurement function. Collaborate with our global offices to review the completeness and accuracy of procurement processes and approval chains; address and file non-conformities when needed. Lead resolution on Workday procurement module inquiries across the business and act as the liaison between our offices and IT. Lead global training initiatives for Workday, focusing on both current and new modules and covering transformation and compliance. Compliance & Process Governance: Maintain and update global Accounting and Finance desk references, policies and training materials to reflect evolving regulations and processes. Training & System Support: Engage in system testing, user feedback collection, and improvement efforts for newly released finance system functions. Tax & Treasury Automation: Identify and implement automation opportunities in tax and treasury functions to optimize reporting, compliance, and cash management processes. Work with tax and treasury teams to integrate automation tools that improve process efficiency and accuracy. Develop and support reporting solutions to enhance transparency and streamline workflows in tax compliance and treasury operations. Project Management: Oversee and manage automation, process mining, and data analytics projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and on budget. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, build business cases, and execute automation initiatives. Monitor project outcomes, measure success using relevant KPIs, and report findings to senior leadership. Collaboration & Communication: Collaborate closely with Regional Controllers, Finance team, Operations, and IT to ensure alignment between finance transformation goals and compliance needs. Function as a liaison between finance teams and system implementation teams to ensure successful delivery and adoption of new tools and processes. Communicate effectively with global subsidiaries, ensuring timely resolution of finance-related issues and the smooth adoption of new processes. Requirements: Two years freight forwarding industry preferable. CA (SA) or bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with 5 years accounting experience in a similar transformation and compliance role. Advance Excel skills Hybrid role. Ability to become Wisetech C1 certified (CCC) once hired. Prior experience in C1 advantageous Able to speak, write and read English. Able to prepare manuals and instructions in English. Training experience on an ERP system is desirable Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices Proficiency in accounting software Commitment to accuracy, integrity, and professionalism Capability of travelling outside of Country when needed. Understanding operational matters to support but also suggest better ways of working. Readiness to go extra mile to avoid mistakes and produce new opportunities. Ability to adjust to diverse ideas, impressions, schemes, and tactics from individuals. Strong analytical skills and detailed orientated Excellent organizational skills, good critical thinking skills, effective communication skills, ability to manage multiple priorities. Clear communication with various levels within the organization – Junior to Senior level Confidence in implementing Accounting and Finance Policies, able to communicate issues and propose solutions objectively. Self-motivated, able to work in a team and independently. Strong interests in ERP Finance systems implementation and support. Lead finance discussions with other functions/teams (Operations, Tax, Legal, System Administration, System Development and Sales teams). Adaptable to working with diverse teams internationally and managing time zone differences when required. Patient, prepared to handle repeated issues or questions with long resolutions.
