Job Description

Main purpose of the job: Assist in statistical analysis, data management and statistical reporting Location: PHRU - Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, Soweto - Johannesburg Key performance areas: Writing of statistical methods, data analysis and results section for manuscript Knowledge of statistical methods required for different studies Knowledge for methods to use while analysing data Research new statistical/analytical methods Perform quantitative analysis Writing skills for statistical methods, data analysis and results section Analysing data from clinical trials Creating table shells in preparation for analysis Generating open-source code for study reports in SAS, STATA or R Create dashboards Programme ongoing performance metrics over the duration of a clinical research project, comparing targets to actuals Creating quality control (QC) reports for various projects Creating timeously data management reports Creating table shells in preparation for data analysis using SAS Generating open-source code and producing study reports such as tables and figures using SAS Conducting research to understand new methods of analysis data in SAS Database development Database management Development of databases using REDCAP Offer database training (DFNet and REDCap) to data captures Quality assurance prior to databases exported Novel use-cases for REDCap Integration and merging of large databases Liasing with external partners to ensure smooth transfer of data Strict adherence to POPIA and GCP (latter needs certification) Feedback and Train clinical staff in data entry and quality control Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained Inform relevant parties if tasks or deadlines not met and offer means of resolution Innovation in all things Manage colleagues and client’s expectation and communicate appropriately Manage own disruptive emotions (handle stress in ways that do not negatively impact on the team) Required minimum education and training: BSc in Mathematics and/or Statistics or BCom Statistics (Honours Degree would be advantageous) Python and Statistical software (e.g. STATA, SAS, R, etc) Required minimum work experience: 2-3 Years’ experience in manging and analysing large datasets Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities: Basic programming skills (SAS, STATA, R) Communication skills Presentation skills Having conducted some project(s) that involved data analysis Willing to travel Analytical ability Ability to meet Deadlines Attention to Detail Technical skills working with smartphones, gadgets and IOT Support and drive PHRU core values Maintain a positive attitude Respond openly to feedback TO APPLY: Only if you do meet the minimum job requirements and experience as mentioned above, you may submit a detailed updated CV.
