As a Policy and Projects Officer, you have extensive experience and working knowledge of performance indicators and reporting mechanisms within children's social care. Your qualifications include a degree or equivalent experience in a related discipline, business administration, project management, and evidence of ongoing professional development. You possess strong skills in communication, both in English and Welsh, and demonstrate creativity, innovation, and high-developed problem-solving abilities. You excel in partnership development, working with internal and external individuals and organizations. You are self-motivated, capable of working unsupervised, and committed to providing outstanding services for Wrexham people. You understand and are committed to equality and diversity, emphasizing the importance of Welsh language and culture. You can work flexibly, possess organizational skills, and have the ability to travel and attend meetings outside standard hours. Familiarity with best practices in local government, such as committee systems, is also essential.



What the Job Involves



The role of Policy and Projects Officer involves managing new initiatives and policy development within the Prevention and Social Care Department, specifically under Safeguarding. This role supports departmental policy change in response to national guidance and local issues, ensuring participants’ safety while improving the Council’s reputation. You are responsible for the development and maintenance of reporting frameworks using electronic recording systems to support performance management across the service. You also handle quality assurance processes and provide training to frontline social work teams. Your duties include attending meetings, developing strategic project plans, delivering presentations, and creating reports for various audiences. You assure robust data use within service evaluation, directly aid in service improvement, and ensure all reports meet external regulatory standards. You also work collaboratively across departments for integrated multi-agency projects and manage direct reports focused on utilizing systems effectively. Flexibility is vital to address the ever-changing dynamics of the service environment within set deadlines and organizational standards. Your role reinforces safeguarding efforts and supports Welsh Government guidelines.
