A specialist education school in Barnsley is looking for supply Teaching Assistants to join their school covering short and long-term absences. The students at this school are between the ages of 11-19 and have communication and interaction difficulties.

Responsibilities of the role:
Establish good relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and being aware of and responding appropriately to individual needs
Attend to pupils’ personal needs including social, health, physical, hygiene, first aid, and welfare matters
Support pupils to access the curriculum including reading and ICT
Support the teacher in establishing an appropriate learning environment including preparing for lessons, clearing away and assisting with the display of pupils’ work
Be aware of and support differences and ensure all pupils have equal access to opportunities to learn and develop
The ideal Full-time SEND Teaching Assistant should have the following:
Strong behaviour management skills
Minimum of 6 months experience working with SEND
Passionate and enthusiastic about their work
Good communication skills
A good understanding of child protection and safeguarding guidelines
Experience in working with supporting students in their education on a 1:1 and a small group basis
We also accept people with Care and Support Work experience
