About the CompanyMy client, a respected town planning consultancy in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, is seeking a Principal Planner to join their team. Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Principal Town Planner, you will:
- Lead Planning Projects: Take charge of complex planning projects, using your broad knowledge and experience to deliver high-quality outcomes for clients.
- Manage Planning Applications: Oversee and process planning applications, providing strategic advice and producing detailed reports and recommendations.
- Prepare and Present Appeals: Represent clients by preparing and presenting evidence for planning appeals.
- Mentor and Support Teams: Provide leadership and guidance to junior staff, ensuring a clear understanding of current planning issues and legislation.
- Drive Business Development: Play a key role in business development, fostering repeat work, and contributing to the company's growth.
- Client Relations: Maintain excellent communication with clients, ensuring that reports and recommendations are delivered professionally and on time.
The ideal candidate will:
- Hold a degree in a town planning discipline and ideally be a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
- Have 5+ years of relevant experience in either the Local Authority or private sector, with a proven ability to handle complex planning projects.
- Be able to manage multiple projects and workloads independently, ensuring both commercial and contractual needs are met.
- Have in-depth knowledge of planning legislation and the ability to apply it across various planning sectors.
- Possess strong leadership qualities, with the ability to mentor junior staff and lead by example.
- Be ambitious and eager to enhance the company's reputation for innovation, quality, and timeliness in delivering planning solutions.
