Job Title: Electrical Engineer – High Technology Construction Project

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and driven Electrical Engineer to join our team for a large-scale, high-technology construction project in Cardiff. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in delivering an advanced and complex project, working with cutting-edge technologies in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

The successful candidate will bring expertise in electrical systems design, implementation, and management, gained through experience on large-scale projects. You will ensure that all electrical systems meet safety standards, quality benchmarks, and project requirements, while also contributing to innovative solutions and sustainability goals.

Key Responsibilities

Design and Planning:

Develop and review electrical system designs, layouts, and specifications to meet project requirements.

Collaborate with design teams to integrate electrical systems with other disciplines.

Perform load calculations, equipment selection, and capacity planning.

Project Execution:

Oversee the installation, commissioning, and testing of electrical systems, ensuring compliance with codes and standards.

Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for electrical aspects of the project.

Ensure all electrical work is completed on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

Compliance and Safety:

Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, industry standards, and project specifications.

Work closely with regulatory authorities and stakeholders to secure necessary approvals and certifications.

Team Collaboration:

Act as a key liaison between clients, contractors, suppliers, and internal project teams.

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members.

Support cross-functional teams to achieve overall project objectives.

Documentation and Reporting:

Prepare detailed reports, technical documentation, and progress updates.

Maintain accurate records of electrical installations, inspections, and modifications.

Qualifications and Skills

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.

Proven experience as an Electrical Engineer on large-scale construction projects, ideally in high-tech or industrial environments.

Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it) is highly desirable.

Technical Expertise:

In-depth knowledge of electrical systems design, installation, and maintenance.

Proficiency in relevant software tools, such as AutoCAD, ETAP, or similar.

Familiarity with UK building regulations, BS7671 wiring regulations, and other industry standards.

Soft Skills:

Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on practical, efficient solutions.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
