WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
nnnThe Software Engineer develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diversensoftware systems (e.g., processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithmndevelopment, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, andnbusiness management information systems) based upon documented requirements.nWorks individually or as part of a team. Reviews and tests software componentsnfor adherence to the design requirements and documents test results. Resolvesnsoftware problem reports. Utilizes software development and software designnmethodologies appropriate to the development environment. Provides specificninput to the software components of system design to include hardware/softwarentradeoffs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS)/GovernmentnOff-the-shelf (GOTS) in place of new development, and requirements analysis andnsynthesis from system level to individual software components.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
nnnFourteen (14) years experience as a SWE in programs and contracts of similarnscope, type, and complexity is required. Bachelor's degree in computer sciencenor related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Fourn(4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar softwarenprocesses may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
nnThe candidate shall possess the following capabilities.

- Debug existing software and correct defects.
- Provide recommendations for improving documentation and software developmentnprocess standards.
- Design and code new software or modify existingnsoftware to add new features.
- Integrate existing software into new ornmodified systems or operating environments.
- Develop simple data queriesnfor existing or proposed databases or data repositories.
- Write ornreview software and system documentation.
- Serve as team lead at thenlevel appropriate to the software development process being used on anynparticular project.
- Design or implement complex database or datanrepository interfaces/queries.
- Develop or implement algorithms to meetnor exceed system performance and functional standards.
- Assist withndeveloping and executing test procedures for software components.
- Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, confernwith users or system engineers; analyze systems flow, data usage, and worknprocesses; and investigate problem areas.
- Modify existing software toncorrect errors, to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance.
- Design, develop, and modify software systems, using scientific analysis andnmathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences ofndesign.
- Design or implement complex algorithms requiring adherence tonstrict timing, system resource, or interface constraints; Perform qualityncontrol on team products.
- Implement recommendations for improvingndocumentation and software development process standards.
- Oversee onenor more software development teams and ensure the work is completed innaccordance with the constraints of the software development process being usednon any particular project.
- Confer with system engineers and hardwarenengineers to derive software requirements and to obtain information on projectnlimitations and capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.
- Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning tonensure operational specifications are met.
- Recommend new technologiesnand processes for complex software projects.
- Serve as the technicalnlead of multiple software development teams.
- Select the softwarendevelopment process in coordination with the customer and systemnengineering.
- Ensure quality control of all developed and modifiednsoftware.
- Delegate programming and testing responsibilities to one ornmore teams and monitor their performance.
