Permanent. Salary from £45k to £60k depending on experience.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Robot Technical Engineer to oversee the programming and operation of ABB robots in a Body Shop Automation project.
Based at Halewood initially, as the Robot Technical Lead/Senior Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful implementation and operation of robotic systems within the body-in-white assembly process.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Programming: Develop and optimize robot programs for ABB robotic systems based on project requirements and production goals. This includes path planning, motion control, and integration with peripheral equipment.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve technical issues related to robot programming, motion control, and communication interfaces. Implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
- Optimization: Continuously monitor and analyse robot performance metrics to identify opportunities for process optimization, cycle time reduction, and quality improvement
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of robot programs, system configurations, and troubleshooting procedures. Ensure adherence to industry standards and best practices.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure that all robotic systems and automation processes comply with safety regulations and standards. Implement risk assessments and safety protocols to mitigate hazards.
- Effective in planning, setting up goals and objectives.
- Be able to handle pressure to agreed timelines / targets.
About You:
- Proficiency in ABB robot programming languages such as RAPID is essential. Adept at creating, editing, and debugging robot programs to ensure smooth operation in a BIW environment.
- Excellent understanding of robotics principles, kinematics, and dynamics for efficient programming and troubleshooting.
- Ability to interpret CAD drawings and use OLP software for offline programming.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Project. PowerPoint and Visio preferable.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues under pressure.
- Experience with process simulate software for robot simulation and offline programming will be an advantage.
Experience
- Extensive experience in programming and operating ABB robotic systems, particularly in body shop automation applications.
- Proficiency in robot programming languages such as RAPID or similar programming languages for industrial robots.
- Strong knowledge of automation concepts, robotic kinematics, and control systems
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulations applicable to robotic systems in industrial environments
- Proven track record of delivering in a Body In White environment.
- Prior experience in technical delivery management and leadership roles is desirable.
- Track record of delivering to Jaguar Land Rover BIW standards, inclusive of auto- status compliance will be a preference.
Previous experience in all or some of the following areas is preferred:
- Aerospace
- Mechanical/material handling
- Conveyor systems
- Pneumatics
- Hydraulics
- Robotics
- Control systems
- Logistics
Qualifications
- Recognised Technical qualification or relevant proven experience in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
- Driving Licence.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours as required by project demands
