About John
John is 20 years old and is getting ready to transition from childrens services, into his own home in Peacehaven.
When John is at his best, he is highly energetic, funny, outgoing, caring and an intelligent young man. On days that he is not at his best, John can be withdrawn, non-communicative and can struggle with his anxieties. This could lead to John presenting with behaviours of concern and harm to self and others.
John needs a confident, empathetic and experienced support team around him. A team that will listen to him, give him choices, enjoy spending time with him when he is at his best and be there for him when he needs you.
John will need time to adjust to living in his own home and his team will need to support him at his own pace. The goal is to support John to get back to doing the things he enjoys such as, exploring beaches and parks, learning new things and going out and about regularly in his mobility car. John loves music, singing and dancing which is also something that soothes him.
John is very close to his loving family who visit him on a regular basis. It is important to John that his team update and communicate with his family on a daily basis.
John has a diagnosis of Severe Learning Disability, Autism, Generalised Anxiety Disorder with anxious attachment, Tourettes Syndrome (Tics), Attachment Disorder, Pathological Demand Avoidance and Keratoconus (sight impairment). John requires full support with his personal care and will need support to administer his medication.
John has suffered trauma in his life and has experienced significant losses which means John needs time to build relationships. John can find it difficult to understand communication and communicate his needs and wants.
