Experienced PSL - Competition
Job Location
Job Description
Our client is a major global law firm with an established and longstanding reputation in the UK, where they are headquartered.
Their Competition team handles a broad range of high-quality work including EU and UK mergers, competition investigations, competition litigation, behavioural advice and a wide range of regulatory and trade work, including sanctions. The team also advises extensively on public procurement matters, state aid and CMA consumer enforcement issues.
The team is now looking for an experienced Professional Support Lawyer.
In this role you will deliver the knowledge strategy for the Competition team. This will involve developing and maintaining knowledge resources and templates, monitoring and analysing legal developments, providing legal and practical expertise to support the team, and organising and delivering training. You'll also work with the internal innovation team to implement commercial solutions, including AI and Tech Tools.
To be successful in this role, you will bring your significant technical legal skills to bear, but will also work closely with the Partners to bring vision and ideas to the table. You'll develop good working relationships with members of the business development and knowledge teams, including PSLs working in other practice areas across the firm.
In order to be considered for this role, you will have:
- A strong academic background.
- Training, and probably at least 10 years' PQE as either a fee-earner or a PSL at another City or international firm.
- Interest and a passion for new legal developments and the fast-moving regulatory landscape.
- Excellent communication skills, a collegiate and collaborative approach, supporting the development of the practice and also the team's culture and values.
Mainstream UK & EC competition experience e. merger control, investigations, abuse of dominance, anticompetitive agreements, subsidy control, State aid, procurement is required. Trade or sanctions experience would be a bonus, as would EU qualifications (for Brussels support).
The role would particularly suit an experienced PSL, or someone who is currently in/has recently left a senior fee earning role in private practice.
The position could be full-time or part-time (probably 3 days a week minimum, but negotiable) and is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and driven PSL to progress their career within a highly supportive environment.
