Position Overview

We are seeking a Laboratory Manager to oversee the daily operations of our laboratory. This role requires an experienced professional with a background in laboratory practices, project management, and logistics. The ideal candidate will ensure our lab runs efficiently, supporting scientific projects, ensuring safety compliance, and managing resources effectively. This role involves balancing technical, logistical, and operational responsibilities to maintain high service standards for our clients.


Key Responsibilities

Laboratory Operations Management:

  • Oversee day-to-day laboratory activities, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment by scheduling maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting issues.
  • Implement and enforce protocols for sample handling, testing procedures, and reporting.

Project Management:

  • Coordinate and manage multiple analytical projects, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met.
  • Collaborate with scientists, technicians, and external clients to define project scope and objectives.
  • Track project progress, generate status reports, and communicate milestones with key stakeholders.

Logistical Duties:

  • Manage inventory of consumables, chemicals, and equipment, ensuring timely procurement.
  • Coordinate shipping and receiving of samples and materials.
  • Develop and optimize workflows to improve operational efficiency.

Team Leadership & Training:

  • Lead, mentor, and train laboratory staff, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Schedule and assign tasks to technicians, balancing workloads and priorities.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in laboratory operations, including 2+ years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols and quality management systems (e.g., ISO 17025, GLP).
  • Proven experience managing multiple scientific projects from start to finish.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
