Job Description
The Water Institute has an immediate opening for an IT Systems Administrator, responsible for providing on-site and remote assistance related to user endpoints, physical and virtual servers, networking equipment, peripherals, and software. This role monitors the IT ticketing system and assists employees with resolving technical issues. This role also monitors system logs and alerts to perform preventative maintenance and resolve issues. The IT Systems Administrator will also assist the IT Manager with projects and other day-to-day duties in the IT department.
Roles and Responsibilities:
We are headquartered in Baton Rouge and the position will be ideally located in Louisiana at our main office in Baton Rouge, but consideration may also be given for our New Orleans office on UNO campus. Our in-office days are typically Tuesdays and Thursdays with alternate visits to our other office and possibly on other days as needed. The hiring pay for the position starts at $59,000 and a final determination is based on the skills, education, and/or experience of the successful candidate. We believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current staff as part of any final offer. We also offer a generous benefits package for full-time exempt positions.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide on-site and remote technical assistance and help desk support for queries and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware.
- Provide problem resolution, reassigning or escalating advanced inquiries to IT Manager.
- Assist with hardware purchasing and maintain an inventory list.
- Assist with software purchasing and renewals.
- Set up user account for new employees and participate in onboarding training.
- Install and configure new computers, networking equipment, servers, peripherals, and software.
- Monitor and test backup systems.
- Set up small and large conference rooms for virtual meetings.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve IT issues (both hardware, software, and user error).
- Proficient in:
- Microsoft Windows
- Linux
- MacOS
- Active Directory
- Microsoft Entra
- Office365 administration
- Experience with installing and maintaining firewalls, switches, and virtual server environments.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to explain technical information in understandable language to nontechnical staff members.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and time management.
- BS/BA in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline or equivalent experience.
- Experience with AWS.
- Familiarity with EDR and MDR systems.
- Cybersecurity training
- 3+ years of experience preferred
