My client is an organisation in the social housing sector, committed to providing safe and affordable housing for our community. As a Contract Officer, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the effective management of contracts related to property maintenance, repairs, and refurbishments.
Your New Role
You will be required to work closely with the Senior Surveyors to provide contract management advice and contractor performance updates. Analyse and become familiar with current contractor JCT contracts and advise on the correct processes and procedures and support the operations team with contract administration. You will be required to attend contract pre-commencement and progress meetings as required and prepare and send enquiries to contractors, inviting them to quote, and analyse quotes to make recommendations. Cooperate with colleagues to consistently deliver projects on time and within agreed budgets and consistently adhere to team processes through successful audit outcomes.
What You’ll Need to Be Successful
You will need to have experience of the different forms of building contracts they have used/been involved with, plus what contracts they would choose for particular projects and also what are the fundamental differences between the 2 versions of JCT. The main purpose of the role is to advise/assist with procuring new contractors, preparing contract documents, advise and prepare suitable pricing documents. Post-contract, the role is to ensure the contracts are managed correctly. This will include familiarity with WHQS standards and regulations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective vendor and stakeholder interaction, have attention to detail and proactive problem-solving abilities and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and external partners.
